  1. My clown tang was feeding on day 1 upon release into tang, didn't test feed it at LFS. But it died mysteriously on 2nd week.
  2. Yes, was there and saw that it is a very impressive collection.
  3. Iwarna now has many black Australian ocellaris sold in pairs, I thought the price is good. They are juveniles with orange faces.
  4. OK, that you for all the replies. I guess the cheaper black clownfishes I saw in LFS so frequently are probbaly Clark's, thanks for enlightening me. How about black percs, are they similar to black occellaris?
  5. Actually have been going to farms/shops almost twice a week, but no sifu like you to guide me ... So the pure black and white ones that are more expensive are probably from Australia?
  6. Can anyone tell me what is the differences in pricing between the various types of black clownfish? I believe that the Australian black ocellaris are more expensive, maybe $30 and above. I do see black clownfishes being sold that have yellow faces and fins: these seem to be cheaper. Are they percs? Do the faces turn black when they mature? Thanks in advance for the answers.
  7. That is encouraging, I may try bicolor again.
  8. Two has died under my care, not feeding. I have also read in other sites and in books that it is a very difficult to fish to keep. But they are so commonly offered for sales. Just wondering about the success rates in Singapore....anyone else wants to share?
  9. Got a pair from Henry, got them to feed on live brine shrimp, then graduate to frozen brine shrimp. Even took Henry's gourmet food. But it is laborious to feed them frankly, having to battle shrimp and fast fishes, not to mention the algae that is caused by the pollution (inevitably excess amount of food get poured in to get them to eat a bit).
  10. Thanks. Will keep a lookout for that again. So far can't find any in the markets.
  11. Hi, I am wondering if anyone knows where to get silversides (also known as lancefish, I think)? Have tried supermarkets etc and still couldn't find suitably sized fish. The purpose is to wean lionfishes off live food. Thanks.
  12. I used a long pair of tweezers and held the frozen mysis right in their faces. Can handfeed them this way till you train them to feed from bowl.
  13. Interestingly reefing may be the factor that keeps the stress down and hence avoid a consult with me
  14. Fish taken last night. Thank you for your interest.
  15. Thank you guys for your advice. Wrasses are certainly beautiful fish and reef safe. The Lubbock feeds easily and that is why I am encouraged to try other wrasses. Had been keeping finicky feeders like madarins, seahorses, butterflies and a majestic angelfish for past several months and frankly quite tired of the intensive care and the pollution to the water feeding caused. Hope to meet you guys in LFS one of these days, provided I recognise some of you
  16. I currently have a Lubbock's wrasse in my 24G nano tank. I would like to add in one or two more fairy wrasses, such as solorensis wrasse etc, just wondering if different species may fight? Thanks for any comments.
  17. I am posting this on behalf of a friend. Healthy zebra lionfish 5 inches, in possession for about 8 mths, to be given away to anyone who can look after its needs: it feeds on live prawns and guppies so far. I suspect it can be trained to frozen though. Please self collect at Buangkok.
  18. Are they feeding on live or frozen?
  19. Is it possible to train them to eat from a feeding cup like what i do for my seahorses? I would place the mysis using a pair of very long tongs into the cup and the seahorses will be waiting there, or will swim over. This method lessens pollution and the seahorses only need to compete with shrimp. I have seen a video posted by someone whereby the mandarin feeds from a cup or bottle.
  20. Just to share how I eventually got this finicky fish to feed on frozen food. Got this 3 inch butterfly from an LFS and of course during the initial 1 week refused to eat anything, mysis, opened up clam, even rejected live brineshrimp. Finally got some live tubifex worms 2 days ago and it started eating the live worms. Then I alternated feeding with frozen bloodworms- initially it spat out the bloodworms but over several trials, it eventually reconsumed the worms that were spat out and now consumes the frozen bloodworms quite readily. I am unsure of the nutritional value of these worms for marine fish but I soak them in Selcon first before feeding to the butterfly. Just something to share with those who acquired these finicky eaters.
  21. So far, I lost mainly sps, guess the light is inadequate and maybe parameters not optimal. Only the staghorn survived. So no more sps for me. The gorgonians did not make it. The clams (crocea and squamosa) did well, perched on top of the rockwork. The pair of seahorses did well too (tiger tails), feeding voraciously on mysis shrimp from a plastic cup. The pot bellied seahorse died during the period when night aircon was turned off, otherwise it was doing well at 24C.
  22. Saw one like this, short and small, but blade is slightly different, at Reefdepot, not ex too.
  23. Let me look at mine from top down too...
