skim nothing because water too clean or air intake choke? skim out water because of water change?

1 got a ric with 2 mouth, size app 3 x 50 cents coin months already also havent split whereas another 1 with 3, size only 3 x 10 cents coin takes weeks to split into 2 and 1 mouth i think no hard and fast rule on their splitting behavior
