  1. i wonder how zoas stay away from nudis in their natural habitat? i wonder if the low tide and zoas being exposed to the sun rays actually help to keep them off from these nudis?....probably make a trip to chek jawa to find out since there's a upcoming trip there...haha...anyway i only have a zoa frag..so not a problem for me.
  2. hur hur hur...sounds good...u can start incorporating that into yr renovation liao for yr new place...any particular LFS u will be approaching for that?...hur hur...
  3. cleaner shrimps r supposed to eat the parasites and white spots from the fishes, they dun eat waste...although the name suggest "cleaning"...but due to abundance of food from our feeding, they instinctively go for the food for fishes.
  4. why dun go for 3ft x 1ft x 1.5ft? (L x H x or 2.5 x 1.5 x 1.5?
  5. Yup...its always good to get yr CO to agreed. i'm planning for a 4ft but height will be 1ft..shallow reef, lower volume & height for easy maintenance and manageable w/o tearing my wallet and my back. for skimmer either i get a low end one like aquanut or higher end one like skimz...why skimz...anything wrong i can just go to AM...otherwise, will be china brand bubble magus......grotech HEA 150 is also part of the consideration. i kinda of like grotech.
  6. its a good excuse for me to go out in the evening for coffee and take a break from baby sitting and from my CO...haha.. btw, my CO has approved my upgrading proposal...so will start my purchase of equipements phrase by phrase...one shot spend very xiong on my wallet...i dun wish to swipe credit card or pay by installment...this will make my reefing hobby a liability rather than enjoyment.
  7. i used on avg 8-10 bottles per week...that meant 32-40 bottles per month...coz i change 3 times per week plus water top-up. another alternative is to get nsw in a jelly can form...$12 in SL...eventually you can just buy them in plastic bags and pour into yr jelly can. but if u dun drive, then this method will be xiong...must well just push back ntuc trolley back to yr home with 2-3 cartons.
  8. You might experience more algae growth from using tap water. I used to treat my tap water in a jelly can and i dumped a bag of carbon inside + chlorine remover and leave it for a few days b4 i use. But i'm still skeptical of using tap water, so eventually switched back to ntuc water...coz i notice brown algae will appear when i used treated tap water.
  9. culitvating too much bacteria and not enough nutrients / food for them may result in massive bacteria die-offs which will potentially lead to tank crashing....wat is good and beneficial, but overadding can be harmful.
  10. do water change 20-30% and dose trace elements might help a bit... if i m not wrong blastos do need feeding regularly and strong lighting...ever since i started to feed them with frozen mysis...they do better and the heads stop melting....i think those meaty prawns are too much for them to digest which i used to feed them with. blasto merletti are more hardy, though they r not as attractive as blastomussa...
  11. Used to have this light greenish-blue blastos feed until pui pui..but melted on me after a few weeks..dun know why.
  12. acan lord is quite easy to take care so long they are feed adequately. yr candy cane dun seems to be doing well. what type of lights are you using? try to place them at the top, they need strong lights. yr leather softie will release mucus every now and then and may affect the rest of yr corals. its a form of protective mechanism and the mucus is toxic...if you want to keep this, better have carbon in yr sump to absorb them.
  13. yr blue yuma is better than the pink specimen i got from GO from previous shipment. time for FTS
  14. 1. Take out yr zoa one by one and dip in FW with lugol's solution. 2. Agreed with Solo77, get a green / yellow wrasse and cross yr fingers to c if they will eliminate those nudis. 3. When yr lights are off, shine yr torch on yr zoas and see how bad yr situation. Usually, they like to roam when the lights r off and probably u can spot the eggs.
  15. use epoxy and stick them onto yr rocks...sure got space left.
  16. ahh..you r one of those big time reefers...very nice aussie acans!!! take some nice pictures when they expand after they are well fed....drool...
  17. somehow, there's always space..if you shift yr corals...and dump those that r dying.
  18. depends on where the thai reefers strike...sometimes they sweep the east, sometimes they sweep west...nobody knows but them...nobody knows but them...
  19. haha...that is also part of the plan...already got one red prata to welcome the prosperous year of the tiger before 1st jan...but still will be looking out to add another red stuff.
  20. It just happened it is near my mother in-law's place and my mom's place...if i stay in the east like marine parade, tampines or pasir ris, i will probably be a regular at the farms there...haha... Anyway, its good to GO there to relief itchiness and stress.
  21. Some got their stuffs in GO by the boxes...i recall one occasion, they sold 13 boxes of SPS in one night. Also a thai fellow bought almost the whole roll of LPS except the old stocks...i was there and nothing left for me except those on the "display" tanks. And also this supplier from atlantis came and just point here and there and went off with a couple of boxes. i call them the tsunami reefers....they come and basically sweep everything.
