  1. I'm also a newbie and also have a 2ft tank running for 3 weeks. Based on yr bioload of 4 anemones (probably tempted to buy them as they are attractive). You definitely need a chiller n a powerful protein skimmer. Your corals may not be happy with the wavemaker as yr tank is quite small. If you have a good filter, it should cause some movements of yr water already. For my set-up, it did not install any wavemaker as the outflow from my external cannister filter is already causing moderate currents in the water. I have consulted experienced marine hobbyist and aquarium shop owners, for 2 ft tank, you dun really need a wavemaker. But since you have one, placed them blowing against your glass panel for indirect circulation. That way, it will not be so powerful causing too much stress to yr fishes and corals.
  2. Ok, thanks for the advice...will place them at a higher level...coz right now it is placed at mid level. Looks like i have to get a wavemaker as brown algae is appearing also. I have an ozoniser, but bcoz my tank is only in its 3rd week, i am adviced not to on it yet.
  3. Hi Marine Hobbyist Experts, I'm a newbie and my tank has been up and running for 3 weeks. However, i start to notice brown algae appearing on the sand bed and my pump. Does ozoniser remove these algae? or what are the solutions to this upcoming problem? i checked my water, PH is 8.4, nitrite and nitrate is less than 10 and i'm using Jebo 180 protein skimmer + external cannister filter. No wave maker as the aquarium shop says there's no need for a 2ft tank, so i did not install one. Thanks
  4. My nitrite is zero. My PH level is 8.4 n KH is 10d. I have a couple of mushrooms- giant mushrooms, toadstool and tube worms. Had feed my corals with phytoplankton daily. Water movements are moderate.
  5. Any recommendations where to buy clams? I'm a newbie
  6. Impressive...u sure you are a newbie? You did all the set-up yourself? (clapping my hands)
  7. I also just started my 2ft marine tank for less than a month...i must comment yours is very impressive... i couldn't get hold of those nice live rocks like yours. Went to the popular one at west coast , near ayer rajah...their stuffs are quite expensive
  8. Quite impressive...looks rather tidy. I'm not too sure about using iron rod stand for marine as it will rust. Eventually i changed my mind and bought a cabinet for my 2ft tank. Does not cost much...around $70-$80 and it is quite tough and heavy. I added an ozoniser in additions to the filter and protein skimmer.
  9. Hi there, I need some advice here. 3 days ago, i bought a star polyps from J_ R_h at west coast. Looks great so i was tempted to buy. After i placed them in my tank (2ft), they dun seem to open, even though i feed them with phytoplankton. I checked my temp, it is constant at 28 degrees with my T5 lights on and my nitrite and nitrate levels are low. Just wondering wat happen?
  10. Hi, I have set-up a 2ft marine tank. Just need some honest advice whether i need to install an ozonizer. Currently, i have a Jebo Protein Skimmer and an external cannister filter. Some sites have recommended UV sterilizer, but it kills good and bad bacteria. Thanks
