  1. Very nice colourful tank you have there. Yr pics brings out the colours of your corals and fishes, unlike mine...sian...
  2. Not bad for a starter. Your suns need to be feed very often...one way is to get frozen mysis and feed them when yr lights are off.
  3. if you can, save up more and get deltec MCE 300 hang-on back skimmer, can already. Then do weekly 10% water change. it cost $349, but it is very good...wait for CNY come, with some ang bao come in can fund that toy for youe...meanwhile, just let yr water cycle....sometimes with patience, you can get better things for your hobby. Comycus is using MCE 500, i think...seen its performance.
  4. crabs usually eat left overs or dead organisms or dead tissues, they are scavengers basically...dun think they are attacking yr BTA. the only menance they posed is sometimes, in search of food, they will shift my corals or topple them...my crabs can topple my big prata and carry my colony of candy cane to do weight lifting. but i leave them alone coz they helped to clear left over food like mysis and prawn meat, that gets float away.
  5. Dun say you have limited resources...there's ways to share cost...if u r looking for acan, zoa, mushrooms, i can frag for you..only some i cannot frag like prata..haha...end of the month i will be cheonging LFS, trying to hunt for nice zoas to add some blue into my tank...will update you bah.
  6. yeap...trim the propeller itself...i'm not kidding...but dun over trim hor...later no wave at all..haha..trim a bit first then test in a pail of water until you are satisfied.
  7. trim the propeller...a little first and test it...if still too strong, trim again...by then should not be too strong liao. that's wat i did to my wave maker...
  8. well, if she still dun like it too bright, send me a pm, i'll buy yr 110W.
  9. its quite bright...i was quite impressed too even though mine was 60w. i dun c that as a bad thing...coz you have more options wat kind of corals you want to concentrate like placing zoas on top or SPS like montipora.
  10. Ok bros...thank you veri muchee for the tips...haha...got to pample my CO somehow...haiz...thinking of a 3-4footer, 1ft plus height, shallow tank and low cabinet for easy maintenance and placing my gems w/o breaking my back...thats all. Every time i walked past the glass maker shop towards GO, and seeing all the nice empty tanks there...see bey gian...
  11. Fear that i will spend more time and money on reefing than making love...
  12. Saw the videos...impressed...making me drool already in the office. Btw, my CO has rejected my initiative to upgrade my tank size last night....damn...got to try my luck again after CNY...pray for me bros & sis
  13. huh? yr budget for FY2010 so jialak har...saving up for yr big day / house? haha...
  14. You have to feed very often if you want them to sprout new heads fast, but they dun build new skeleton structure like merletti that fast even if u r running a calcium reactor. You can go down to GO..sometimes they offer 4 blastos for $100 during lelong period....can place them together to form a blasto garden.
  15. you can name these zoas yourself...these names are given to make them "marketable" in US, dun have to crack yr juice out to identify them. most impt, you r happy to put them in yr tank and they look shui.
  16. Very nice scapee...looks more like a SPS set-up to me...haha...
  17. Blennies look cute and harmless...one of my fav also. Mine got killed by my yellow tail blenny which turns out to be rather aggressive. Yuma may need stronger lighting compared to mushrooms. Try placing near the top. But again it depends on wat type of lighting they are exposed to previously, as mine were previously under MH, so they prefer stronger lights. Try not to place near to strong or direct flow from yr return or wavemaker coz they will detach from the rock.
  18. A couple of things i have experienced and learnt abt using cannister. 1. There will be "dirty cotton stuff" coming out whenever you clean or restart yr filter. This is due to the fan motor sucking in the filter wool when kick start and some of these loose filter wool tends to get suck and stuck in the motor chamber. These loose filter debris and dirt can't be help and will be gone after running for a while. So try not to cramp too much filter wool inside. 2. There will be debris accumulated at the bottom of the cannister after running for some time. You can find sand, dirt, worms, blah blah blah...so what i do is every quarter, i will clear and wash my cannister and pour away the "old" water. Thats y my biohome is very impt. They help me to stabilise my waters after a heavy water change and prevent new water syndrome. 3. The micro bubbles can be prevented by adjusting the input and output. I will adjust the output...either by reducing the surface skimmer intake or reducing the outflow. The reason for micro bubbles is because when the intake is too fast, air gets suck in. So, its either you reduce the input or reduce the output. i hope these info helps.
  19. its possible...provided you change water at least once a week and the clown fishes are mainly the false clowns or tomato or clark clowns which are less aggressive. Maroon clowns are definitely a no-no. adding a tang into a tank full of clowns may not be a good idea.
  20. probably kena disturbed by other fishes when lights are off. sad to hear about yr goby, my condolences to your beloved fish.
