Nice tank...hope you update after one month on yr fish and corals especially your anemone. I would like to know if it can survive w/o chiller under T5 lightnings at temp between 28-30 degrees during daytime. I'm looking forward to getting an anemone for my maroon clown fish so that he can have a nice bed.

Just to add-on. I agreed....if you just want to have a simple tank and some hardy fishes, nothing complicated (no corals, just some live rocks, you can purchase that Jire system and kick start this hobby for a 2ft tank. But it's not enough to support anemones and some of the corals which you see in the display tank at Jire. For that price of protein skimmer selling at $188 using air stone....you can get a Dymax or Jebo protein skimmer which only cost you between $50 - $90 and is much more powerful. If you have the time, go and talk other shop owners like Reef Depot at Sin Ming Rd or Henry at Hong Leong Gardens@ West Coast and seek some advice. My advice is shop around first b4 you rush into it.

Hi Marine Aquarists, Just wondering whether are star fishes compatible with soft corals like mushrooms and polyps? Want to make sure the star fish do not damage or treat them as food.

I followed yr advice and place my star polyps on a higher rock, now they have open and the enjoying light and currents. Thanks bro!

I personally went down to ##### before also wanting to start this hobby one month back....they claimed their skimmer is good enough to start this hobby...but when i open up their display cabinet, i saw they have ozoniser running there and chiller installed. And anybody walks past will be easily attracted thinking with the tank and their skimmer ok liao.

I have one 4 inch maroon clown fish and just wondering whether it will mix well with 2 smaller african clown fishes?

Ya, i used tap water when i setup my tank initially...so kinda kicking myself now...haha. Situation is not too bad right now...but i forsee they grow fast if i do not do something and just sit there. I will turn on my ozoniser and see if the situation improve coz that should reduce the nitrate and ammonia levels...vital nutrients for algae to manifest. i have attached a pic of my tank. FYI, those corals u see behind is just my background pic...dun know y the aquarium uncle just want to put that pic...anyway its free.

Hi Marine Fish Immortal Experts, Can you enlighten me, the brown coral in the middle, is it an anemone or mushroom or anemone mushroom? Think i bought it out of impulse and did not know exactly wat i bought...haha..that's terrible of me. And can they survive w/o chiller?

Btw, is feeding phytoplankton good enough for soft corals ? or any other recommendations?

Kum siah. Different people give me different answers..some say install wave maker, some say no need. Anway, i will observe further and install the wave maker when the tank matures.
