  1. Now can get Reefmax at Reborn....no need to go to the one at west coast, Jiireh liao. Reefmax pretty good. Fast to dissolve, high calcium and magnesium and value for money.
  2. I have followed yr previous thread. I noticed yr tank have hammer, frogsprawn, blah blah blah... You need to be patient, introduce your corals slowly. And observe to make sure they are doing ok, before you cheong to the LPS again to stock up. Start with the hardy corals. All the best! Hope to see your thread again soon.
  3. Any change in temperature? Too much fluctuations in temp is bad. Other corals doing ok? Make sure other corals are not melting also.
  4. Chioz man...drooling at yr pratas and brains
  5. I used 48 bottles of distilled water per month for my 2ft which works out to be approximately $22. Installing chiller will be a better option in the long run esp using MH as the rate of evaporation is even faster.
  6. Gonio need some flow...never attempt this coral myself, heard too much failure from other reefers here. Not cheap also, these gonios.
  7. Add lots of nitrifying bacteria into the tank and let it settle for a few days b4 u start to stock up again. Smell yr live rocks also..make sure no rotting smell. And change yr filter wool, if u are using.
  8. Once u discovered yr corals not doing well, have to remove immediately, if not it will cause yr other corals to die and tank will crashed. Must be patient one...i also budget reefer coz i dun earn much...so slowly add yr stocks next time. Last time i was a noob...even rics also die in my hands..hahaha..heng i removed it fast when they melt.
  9. In that case, its the detritus. Its ok la...probably some dead spots so accumulate there.
  10. 1. When u collect a sample of your water, is it clear in colour or greenish? If it is gleenish, means u gana green algae bloom. Jialak, coz that means a lot of waste or dead organisms causing all these. I suggest you test yr nitrate level. 2. When you change yr waters, siphon the sand bed. I suspect a lot of dirt accumulated on yr sand bed. Best you post some pics to let us see how bad yr situation.
  11. I got mine from Jiireh...not too bad. But i find Reborn has better ones and dun have to travel so far to the farms to get them. Depending on where they are harvested from and the quality. Good ones may cost more than $8/kg. Smell the rocks first to make sure you dun get the rotten smell. Rotten smell means there are dead crustaseans and you will introduce nitrate into your waters. I bought a tonga few months back and i noticed my nitrate very high despite changing waters. Until one day, i took out my tonga and smell, then i realised the dead crustaseans on the tonga and i threw it away.
  12. I understand wat you went thru brother. Had a atlantis system in my office last time. Everytime, i walked passed their shop at IMM, i m attracted by their corals and fishes. Anybody would also. The problem with them is that, they give very basic equipments and lightings which is no way can sustain for long. Fishes keep dying and corals melting away and they charge you premium to replenish your stocks.
  13. Bro, can pm me how much u paid for this brain? very nice bright colours...must be from GO
  14. Hi Reefers, Any idea any shops to recommend as i want to make an acrylic tank for my refugium system? East, Central or West, but not north or northeast..too far for me. Upp serangoon, Bukit Merah, Alexandra, Tiong Bahru, Lavender that soft of areas will be great. And roughly how much? Size is 15cm x 10cm x height 25cm. If cannot find, i will just go with glass. Thanks for your help. Refugium_System.doc
  15. Not a good thing to see most reefers change waters once a month. Changing of waters is the most tedious thing most reefers find it as you have to prepare the waters, siphon some of the waters out from the tank and add new ones. And i noticed some of the aquarium designs especially the hood makes it even more troublesome which i experienced before. But yet changing of waters is the most essential maintenance for the long term health of corals and fishes and to reduce nitrate level.
  16. New addition: Open lobo brain. Got this at a bargain at Reborn on Christmas Day.
  17. Biohome is good...i m using it. Get one box n chuck it into yr sump.
  18. Preferably 2 whites n 2 blues. U can get a separate moonlight using LED from Hopar...cost abt $26 plus If your tank is 2ft, that's enough, unless u have SPS. 3ft and above...just go for MH combined with T5...dun waste time with hopar T5 seriously...coz you will find that it's not enough for those light demanding corals n to bring out their colours.
  19. Keep doing 10% -20%water change every 3 days...until yr nitrate improve; yr nitrate will drop. Use siphon to suck out the waste on the sand bed. I think there's some filter medium u can get with FR in the long run to control them.
