  1. you can dim the lights for yr model...you dun have to worry much abt "overpowering" for LED...coz the lights its not as "sharp" as MH.
  2. feeding fishes with various types of food will ensure they get sufficient nutrition from different sources of food which will in the long run increase their lifespan in an enclosed habitat....that's how i see it.
  3. Yup..should have went for the 110W. So far, quite alright...but 110w will be perfect! The main selling pt of LED is the minimal heat and electricty consumption...you can switch on for more than 10hrs and it will not affect yr temp compared to MH & T5. It's now more affordable thanks to mass production and increasing demand of such technology. But it will not take long for reefers to accept LED...prices have went down a lot.
  4. think i need to upgrade to the 110w...i tot 60W is enough to cover.
  5. personally after using for 4-5days...i can't really say i like it very much or i dislike it. the main thing is that, the colours of my corals dun look that great under maxspect as compared to T5 which allows me to have several combinations of ATI and VHO tubes. some pple may like the shimmering effect, but to me, i'm not that particular...T5 will give a more uniform spread of PAR. but after using maxspect 60w, the extreme right and left corners dun get that much light intensity as the center portion. good thing is, i dun keep SPS..and my corners are low light demand corals like mushrooms and suns. it will take some time for T5 users to get use to using LED and for yr corals to get used to it also...as during the first day..my corals did not open as big as before until the 3rd day...after getting use to the new lighting. if you ask me which one will i choose between MH & LED...i will choose LED...unless you are not particular abt electricity cost and heat.
  6. New christmas toy...maxspect 60w! only problem is...too white, not enough blue spectrum. good thing is low heat as compared to my previous T5 x 4 tubes. Temp is kept constant at 28 during the day and 27 at night w/o chiller. colours of my corals not as nice as under T5
  7. actually u can buy frozen mysis..only $2 per pkg...have very good effects on my suns.
  8. be careful rhodactis will melt very easily once mishandled....once torn, they will not recover..and others will be affected.
  9. can try reef octopus, MCE 500 / 600 models, tunze...aquanaut...bubble magus.
  10. its not good..its freakin damn good! i have been using it for more than a yr.
  11. any pics of purple death in a colony? moi moi just curious.
  12. i have used ozone b4...if you plug that into yr skimmer, it will help to boost yr skimmer performance and u will see more waste being collected. But if overdose, it will have the danger of wiping out yr fishes and corals. Ozoniser is used for commerical agriculture of aquatic fishes, coz its cheaper to run that than UV steriliser. If any of yr fishes kaput...yr nitrate / ammonia levels will indicate.
  13. ok brothers, kum sia!....minor correct..reborn is in lavender...though ah beng do sounds a bit like reborn.
  14. pH 8.0 is quite alright...so long yr pH dun fluctuates too often and too much. more impt yr pH is stable.
  15. Bros, anyone know whether Sealife @ balestier sells frozen food like mysis, brine shrimps, pods...etc...i'm trying to avoid GO.
  16. i think my cats might just jump into the tank...esp my male one who is a little "dump"
  17. different pple have different way of solving their problem ma..lol...let's say u are sitting down to makan and yr chair is too far away from the table, for most pple, u will shift yr chair forward, for him he shift the table closer to him ma...doesn't matter if there are other pple affected.
