Tks for the compliments.... hope the structure of the rocks are secure though.. dun wish to see any snails doing damange to the rock works. Will see how the cycling goes and maybe test the paras this weekend and post the results again. One thing for sure, the die offs like not so much liao. And one more thing.. As I bought the cheap rocks from Pasir Ris, most of the rocks i only rinse abit then put into my tank liao.. thus causing like lotsa dust and debris on my rocks now. Will the snails or cleanners I buy in future eat them up?? CAn i just leave them there?? Will they disappear over time?? Tks JL

Hmmm.... i am using tetra test kit.. How do i know id NO2 is 0. From the colour chart, there isnt a colour for 0 NO2. the min is <0.3 mg/l, which is what i got when i test my water.

Hi Guys and Gals, I started my very first tank about 2 weeks ago after reading all the useful info in this forum and getting advices from Hendry(ML is just a 5 mins walk away from my house therefore i am always there when in doubts of my set up). But i guess a couple of weeks in reading up wont get me a better set up and there is always room for improvement. kk... enuff crap// Here are the specs of mi tank. Tank: 90(L) X 50( X 80(H) 10 mm thickness with IOS Sump : 65(L) X 40( X 40(H) (Inculding a mini refugium of 30(L) in it) Chiller : Resun C0100 (Partically running 12 hrs in the day only shutting down when i am home to swicth on my room aircon) Lighting: 2 X 150Watt MH Return pump : Ehiem 1260 PH : 2 X Maxijet Hmm.. hope i covered everything. I started cycling with 30++ kg LR two weeks ago but i never really got a ammonia spike though the rocks had alot of die offs. (Pls advise) Did a test earlier. PH=8.0 NH3/NH4=0mg/l NO2=<0.3mg/l NO3=25mg/l Testkit = Tetratest. So the BIG question?? Is my tank cycled? Do u all think i can probaly add some snails or shrimps this weekend?? Thanks JL

Hey, Why not do a minature version of those crab traps where we use to catch mud crabs. (those got fish one should noe wat i talking about). Those built with bamboo sticks one. maybe can work. HAHA !!

Hmmm.... so i conclude that there is the test pen kind and the display kind. Btw where can i find the display kind, so far only notice that one of the bros mentioning Petmart selling. But its kinda ex. (Or is this the cheapest liao since its from petmart) Got any other recomendations. For the test pen, Is it accurate anot?? Tks JL

HI all, Saw the above mentioned at a LFS. Want to check where can i but one of those and which brand(if there is??) is better. Is it accurate? Is it worth it? Was thinking, if i keep on buying the testkit kind, sooner or later it will offset the cost of an electronic one rite?? Anyone using one pls post reports pls.. Thanks.. Hi SDUU, Sorry to go off topic... But i noticed that ur lights has a shield like that... may i noe waht is that?? U see my tank is in my room and with the MH switched on, sometimes it is so glaring that i am afraid it will hurt my eyes when i am siting on the chair to look at my tank... Will the "shield" over heat my MH? aWhat material to use to DIY one without burning anything.. Tks JL

BUt today is the first wk liao i just test my water condition.. PH - 8.0 ( Do i need to raise it .. if so by using what??) NH - 0 NO2 - <0.3 NO3 - 25mg/l Does this mean cycle liao... can not be leh... got so short cycling time meh?? Pls advise.. P/s Sorry for using ur thread to ask questions. JL

Hi All, I have a few questions and hope that fellow Lao Jiaos can help to easre my doubts and advise mi on the following. 1- I have been reading and found out that currents are second to lighting when keeping corals. However, how do we create the currents? Okay, we have Phs and wavemakers. But may i know where do we place the PHs? I understand that is the PHs are not placed properly, i will actually damage the corals than do good. How many PHs do we need then for a 3 - 4 footer tank. 2- I heard about the SCWD ( Squid ) ??. Is it useful? Where do we place it in order to maximise its usage. Where can i find it apart from buying online? Anyone has a spare one to sell?? Or are there any other stuff that can help with the currents? Pls recommend. Pardon mi if the questions sounds silly. Thanks
