One of my snails is murdered this morning and the killer is caught in the act. I think I'm going to give up this hermit. Anyone interested? Pickup location: Yishun, office hrs. FOC
-
Mine so far so good. Maybe my return pump small (800l/hr), so no strength to suck it down? Seriously, I dun hv anything to prevent it from happening. Btw, mine is a small office nano tank. I dun mind spare a little, but it's really going to be real..ly a little. heehee. If you ok, PM me to arrange lah. location in yishun during office hrs.
-
I keep mine in the return chamber of my nano cube and shine a light on it 8hrs a day (sometimes 24hrs when I forgot to off the light ).

Nope, it doesn't mention. And it says the water contain no minerals, etc. If no mineral how come so alkaline. So cannot buy that brand for fish tank liao.
-
Oh yes, I did retest. I bought two bottles and tested both, newly opened. Both same same. one 10.1, the other 10.7. And I tested my freshwater tank after that to make sure my PH pen is not koo koo. Btw, the brand is BEST distilled pure drinking water, product of Singapore. Did I use the wrong type of distilled water for top up? This is my first time using distilled water for top up. I used to use tapwater with water conditioner.
-
Hi there, today as I was using distilled water to top up my tank, I curious and did a PH test on the distilled water. I was shocked to see that it is ard 10.1! Is that normal? I thought it should be neutral, ie 7.

Thanks guys. Am checking with him whether can collect during office hours. If not, I'll hv to go look ard Pasir Ris farms.
-
Anyone know which lfs/farm has stock now? Thanks.
-
Thanks for the advice, bro. Doubt I'll keep another anthias in this tank again.
-
thanks bro. Actually my first question to lfs is always, "can this fish live with maroon clown?" In the end, got a pink color anthia from Ah Beng shop. At first still happy they live peacefully together n the anthia was feeding fine. But one morning come in office found the anthia up the lorry. :-( btw, is a six line wrasse suitable for my tank?
-
This is how the maroon looks like when I first got it ard 4mths ago. That time the tank has insufficient filtration and I struggled to maintain it. That coral in the background did not make it...but this Nemo survived! Tough fellow.
-
Thanks. No worries, I dun dare to dip too many times too. scared will stress it. understands that zoas dun need tip top condition to live. instead it needs constant water condition. so will juz maintain the water condition and monitor it. Juz got a hydor nano wavemaker and flo deflector from Petmart this morning.

Few days ago did another freshwater dip on that zoa that is not opening and something like a small mantis shrimp jumped out. After that dip, at least the zoa is not totally closed but it is still far from what it used to be...dunno wat else to do now...juz hv to monitor it? The star polyps are stretching out more after I directed the small pump over it. And the small mushrooms and zoas frags seems to be opening up ok. If got chance, will take some pics of them. Meanwhile will post some 'old' pics of other livestock in there. At least they are thriving (better than the corals). Trying very hard to feed it with live brine shrimp, pellets and mysis shrimps. Camel shrimp..he is the cause of my dilemma now. The king of this tank -- clownfish. It has grown a lot darker than wat it used to be. And the cleaner shrimp has molted many times. Scary..the speed it is growing. At the foreground is the closed zoas. It has now open up a little bit more. Feather worm. My colleagues say worms, snails and parasites seems to be thriving better in this tank. :-(

lol guess I cannot find him guilty unless I find proof. Furthermore it has gone thru thick n thin with me being the first lifestock I purchased for my marine tank. Think I'll just get the peppermint shrimp first without removing the camel shrimp.
-
Oh no, I just read that this shrimp can eat small corals or mushrooms: ** The Camel Shrimp: Rhynchocinetes durbanensis ** I've got one in the tank. Should I give it away (anybody want)? And get peppermint shrimp instead? I scared my tank hv Aiptasia. I saw one that looks like it and saw it catching brine shrimp. Can peppermint shrimp get along well with cleaner shrimp, twinspot goby and clownfish?
-
Actually, I thot my one looks more like yellowback anthia because of its yellow back and tail. And the body is like pink in color. Really difficult to ID marine fish with all these small little differences between them.
-
ok I'll do a freshwater dip for the zoa. For the purple queen anthias, I'm feeding it with live brine shrimp. It gets quite excited during feeding time. Hope I can keep it well.
-
er...is it too late now? yes sir! I hv lots to learn when it comes to marine tank.

Thanks to bro peacemaker's custom-made 1ft tank, I finally can have a clean nano to show people. In my previous 1ft tank, I have to struggle with the algae that is infesting the tank. And those snails that I put in die almost immediately. Basically filtration is not enough in that tank and thus water quality no good. Now with this tank, I can keep a stable cleaning team. No need to scrub tank wall anymore. And sand is also white white. No more green green. Anyway, here's how it looks now The star polyps and clam juz put in 2 days ago. But dunno why these few days the zoa doesn't open up that much. Could it be me putting my hands into the tank too much? Cos I need to 'arrange' the stuff these few days...
-
Hi bro, sorry to hear abt your loss. but I'm sure with the second chance to build the tank, you'll do it better. My power sockets are also right behind my tank. I think I better them shift further away to avoid similar incident in the office.
-
ric must be those that I saw in a big tank near the display tank. Uncle says tat one expensive. One small one 25 bucks. Try keep cheap one first.

There are some patches on my liverock and it seems to be 'expanding' slowly. Anyone know what is that (circled) and will it really expand or is it I paranoid?
-
It's my fault. I searched info for beginner corals and found mushrooms as one of them. But did not memorise the names of different species well. and I was not specific at Irwana. only told the uncle I want to get mushroom that is easy for first timer. So he recommended this. I'll move the yuma higher abit n see its response.
-
Thanks, do you think I should move it slightly higher so that it is nearer the light? Maybe put on top of a LR?
