  1. Latest updated pics.... The bloated Elegance is a concern at the moment..... the tips are also shrinking.... not as long when I first brought home... Worry its the ECS....Elegance Coral Syndrome which would subsequently leads to Bailout from the skeleton???? Any bros got experience and how's the survivability rate?
  2. Yeah, fit in the top up box nicely. Can't really last very long, but is a good option to bring down the temp if you water is running too high in temp. At least when the temp is lowered, the CPU fan can then not work so hard and maintain at a lower temp for a long time. Cold pack have the same purpose, but just be careful there is no leakage as the cold pack usually is enclosed in a softer material than these brite ice cold box. : )
  3. hmm, I do see some coloration water in the skimmer cup. I tried to do weekly water change, but have phobia due to some bad experience and also timing. Now, I do monthly change and I buy seawater from LFS plus doping of additives of cos. U like my Elegance too? Yeah, it is looking great and I enjoy looking at it when it's stretched out. : )
  4. Thanks for your encouragement bro... yup. So far so good... must maintain..... but won't to adding any more LS since I already spent quite some $$ in the first week of receiving my pay.... moreover, dun wanno to overload my bioload.... tank is too small for too many LS..... sob sob......
  5. Ok, back from a one-day reservist.... Haha, I have one with those suction cup, but not so nice la... Since the tank looks so nice on the wall, of cos wanna to maintain the nice physical appearance... hehe... No worries, i still another thermometer with build in SG measurer. : )
  6. Bro, i believe lots of bro here had given you their advise. Well, just do what is within your means. Even me, working adult with kids sometimes also find budgeting a bit hard. Need to buy milk powder some more. But take it easy and at a comfortable pace.... I only start to read out more after 3 years and experienced numerous crashes. But it takes time to learn from mistakes (unfortunately). So take care, and I can see you can even advise some bros on the ID of some species which I too learn from you.
  7. Oh, i think you r right cos I place my gonio near the surface with the most flow. I tot they prefer flow in order to bloom.... Thanks for the info.... : )
  8. Bro, pm you yesterday, but no reply. Are the tubes still available. I really need one to try out first as I dunno if my stock ballast can take 39W or not.... Thanks.
  9. Your pink gonio is definitely nice. Very suitable for CNY!!!! Mine is white with green tips.... so far dun bloom but i noticed it will detached one or two frag, do you know if this is a bad sign or its fragging? I tried to detached the seperating one but dropped down deep to the sandbed behind my LR... now lost.... : (
  10. Not really, the one I got is slightly bigger than the 50 cent coin cost me only $20 at J****. I went Iwarna, bigger ones around $35.
  11. Hmm.... the skin of my BT is recovering, the blue is now darker, just left the patch near the eye is not blue yet.... This morning noticed the left eye is slightly cloudy again.... please don't tell me it's back.......... My poor BT.
  12. Got this stick on thermometer at the same time, cheap cheap, $1.50 only. I can't imagine how much I had paid for the mercury-based thermometer from J***h!!!! Certainly kanna chop liao... sob.....
  13. Have introduced the SEACHEM De-Nitrate and Phosguard into my filter.. hopefully my NO3 and PO4 reading will reduced. Also change 10% of water on Monday night..... Saturday will be testing the water parameters again.... keep my fingers crossed....
  14. Alright, ice cube will now be an alternative way to cool down the water. Got these Coleman's Brite Ice from GIANT Supermarket.... cheap cheap. The coldness can last longer than ice since it doesn't "melt" so readily.... I think! Will be using 2 at a time, and the other 2 as a backup after the first 2 are depleted.... Maybe I should time how long 2 Brite Ice can last... but temp definitely reduce.
  15. Some old and initial modification work: Laptop Fan..... 2 fans and with fan speed controller!!!! Woho....
  16. Bro, wanna try a big open brain? I love OB esp after hand feed them, they will bloat up like being very satisfied with the feeding.... :eyebrow:
  17. Here's the full right view of the tank. Sadly the suction pads are unable to stick on the background of the tank due to the backdrop of artificial rock landscape. Hence has to be secure on the front glass panel which makes the skimmer so visible. Was playing with the idea of using the epoxy bonder but may regret when need to remove or change position...... Anyway, just see if this skimmer works with this tank's capacity......
  18. ok, here is the Resun Skimmer SK05 done up n running in the wall mount AT. Still monitoring on the progress of this experimental skimmer. Unfortunately, have to re-scape the LR in order to fit the skimmer in.
  19. YUP, thanks AhSiang for the video clip. Looks like I have connected correctly. The only thing is that water is overflowing in the cup... I suspect too much air is entering into the pump... Any bro can advise if my suspicious is correct?? TIA..... :thanks:
  20. Sneak preview..... The experimental skimmer is up.....(dunno if its set up correctly). Re-scape LR to accommodate skimmer. Added SeaChem Denitrator and Phosguard to reduce the readings for NO3 and PO4..... Yes, I must admit, more $$ spent but found a good LFS for equipments and they cost much lesser than the others that I had visited.... Pics to follow up soon......
  21. Hi bro, dun giv up hope. I am also having the wall mount tank. Yes, so far you can't keep fantastic corals or fishes, but I m into modding it to make it work. No point complain to the boss since we already paid for the product. So just keep improving... reading the experts reefer here too motivate and inspire me to make my tank work. At least, improving and modding the tank keeps me occupied during my free time and de-stress me from my work. If the stuff I modded work, there is a sense of achievement and satisfaction. You can check out my thread in the members tank post... it may not be the most fantastic tank, at least take pride in the time and effort spent to make things happen.... Cheers Mitlancer.....
  22. LR update after visit to Pasir Ris Farm...... Chaetos from one of the bros here (now become part of the right fliter media....)
  23. Latest shopping spree and past upgrades: Pic 1: Hydor Flo Deflector (wavemaker) no need pump or power supply... good for AT. : ) Pic 2: Eheim Compact 1000 for the left chamber. Pic 3: Resun super nano skimmer... (at experimental stage if can fit in the wall mount AT, cheap stuff) Pic 4: Seachem Garlic Guard. hope to build up the resistance for my blue tang. Pic 5: Got some test kits, I love the 5 in 1 test strips... makes the job easier. But bad results for my Nitrate (NO3) and Phosphate (PO4) which explains the recent increase in the algae on the glass surface. pH: 8.4 KH: 10*d NO2: 0 NO3: 100mg/l PO4: 0.5mg/l
  24. Hi jkit, 1). without the wavemaker deflector, your water current just flow straight to our right chamber.... so the bottom has no wave, bcomes dead spot. 2). patience and hardwork, I used to use a toothbrush to scrap monthly.... now I leave the job to my 2 turbo snails. Also maintain water quality. 3). Of cos can help. I can bring you go Sim Lim Tower shopping for the blue LEDs, u just prepare your $$$.... haha. 4). Hermit will clear the leftover food at the bottom, they will look for food themselves. So far, no, they dun fight. But they do disturb my corals at times. 5). Ice block, if the temp goes up to 30 degrees. But only when if I at home, if not also cant monitor. But my laptop fans can maintain the temp at 29 without the ice. I recently use those cold box instead of ice. see my later post. 6). yes, as long as I am at home after office hours. U pm me and I can reply u with my address. Cheers
