My 2 F. Percula also died. They were hit by the clown disease. It shows up as a big white or greyish piece of fungus at the side of the clowns. Add in medication but no use.

Hihi, THe damsel I bot got Ich & it die due to late treatment as I didn't notice it since it hid in the LR most of the time. Now how do I make sure that my QT is safe again for use? Hi Bros, This is my 2nd tank after my 1st nano tank & I'm thinking of putting marco algae into the refugium sump. After looking around, think I'll settle for the grape type as it is the least messy & looks good too. Any comments if u think it is not as good as its looks (like higher risk of going asexual)? So anyone got "Grapes" to spare? Can share with me how u maintain it (24hrs lights on, attach it to rock, etc?) BTW, I'm staying in Bishan......so if u r staying nearby that will be great. If not, I'll drive to ur place. v v much

Thanks bros. Well, I'm a newbie. So dun know any reefers here. Got a colleague who is in plants tank though. Food wise, I'm getting an auto timer feeder to feed pellets food to the fish. But I was wondering if anyone here use the some containers to drip the additives into the tank? Any idea if there's such products or have to DIY? * BTW, no one at home while away.

Hey anyone here got some experience?? I'll be away for 1-2 weeks in Dec. So how to maintain the calcium, trace element, idodine, & etc in the tank while one is away? Thanks.

Hihi fellow reefers, I have 5 Trochus Snails in my tank. But 1 of the felloe came out of its shell & hid under my LR (it happened last Sat, that's why I saw it). Right now, I can still see it hiding under the LR with my torch light and I have placed its empty shell near the LR, hoping it will go back to its shell. Is this normal? Why does it leave its shell? Will it die? Should I take it out of the LR if it is going to die? Thanks.

talking about marcoalgae - how do we cultivate it?

Is ur tank cycled yet? When I was cycling, the same thing happens. It should be algae however it is just a layer over it and the base colour is still red/purple.

Thanks for your reply Achilles Tang. I do get ur point. Of course, no way to compare a premium pdts to budget ones. u pay for what u get. If u pay peanuts, u should expect less. BUT the impt point here (no offence at all) is -> at least when I buy something cheap, it is at least useful although must lower expectation. If I'm going for expensive items, at least I know the money is well spend & worth it. As u know, LFS always says the pdt they carry r good & many actually got no experience in keeping marine tanks. What I'm trying to establish here is to at least have some qty control and it would be a great help to the newbies -> it is up to them to decide whether they want to spend more for top end pdts or keep a budget tank but at least the stuff they use r not junk. Hope u undertstand.

Hihi, There r so many brands in the mkt from salt, food, skimmers, tanks to chillers etc. So far, it is difficult to locate the threads in this forum. Guess newbies like me & don't want to waste money buying some less reliable products. Ya, I know it is subjective...some will say this one good while others disagree. But all we need is a guide rather than a bible. At least, we r moving in the correct direction (as u know it is costly to buy a chiller & we may end up with a noisy one & regret but r stuck with it as it is not cheap). So can the seniors or anyone gives some advices (just state what u prefer to use & maybe why. Need not state which one u dislike, don't want to end up slandering products/somebody here...). So please post which pdts r ur favourite. Thank u v much. Well, if there's sufficicent info, I may compile a favorite list divided into diff categories & share with the bros here. Pls lend ur support.

yes...I have a powerhead to circulate the water. 2 months! this is v long. My 1st tank took about 3 weeks & I added LS after that although I did suffer some causalties - 1 cardinal, 1 clown fish, 1 bi-colour. Since then, it has stablised with 2 cleaner prawns, 3 damsels, 2 clowns & 1 emperor. lesson learned.......never buy from unreliable source!

Hihi, Advice needed. I was cycling my 2nd tank & this time tried to save cost by buying some cheap LR ($8/kg). Previously, bot Fuji rocks at around $18/kg and the cycling was quick & successful without any dangerous spike in NH4 & NO2. The whole tank was cycled within 3-4 weeks. However, tis time round – both the NH4 & NO2 had a v huge spike in just 3 days (both near the high end of the scale) even though I was been told they r cured. Also, there’s some white mold/fungus on the LR (just like those u found on the stale bread). Took the rocks up & smelled them, just a little bit smelly otherwise it’s ok. So, is tis normal and I just got 2 be more patient? Pls reply.........and share ur experience. Thanks.

HiHi, Have read about the benefits of live sand. Question is : how do I jump start the process? Where can I can all the beneficial worms and organisms? FYI : my I have use a gravel filter under my DSB to create a plenum and my tank currently only stock live rocks and I waiting for the rocks to be cured. Can anyone offer help in this area. Thanks.
