  1. Bro Xtrader, using a scrubber would help to effectively bring down your NO3 & PO4. Water change is still required to replenish trace elements are gets depleted in a closed system like our tank. Dosing those commercial available trace elements will not be effective because a lot of the elements cannot be measured by test kit. Sea water or salt mix will be able to take care of this issue thro' WC. Running a skimmer in this concept is to enable the nurtients gets recycled back to the main tank for corals & fishes to eat again. A skimmer will skim out this nutrients. Then, a mature tank will then requires bacterias to break down all this due to no skimmer. Again, running a skimmer does no harm. The only thing is that the basic idea of running a scrubber without a skimmer for the nutrients to be reuse is no longer there. However, NO3 & PO4 continues to be in check by the scrubber.
  2. Yes, i used before. Agreed with u on that. Comparable to a deltec sc1455. Skim SM161 was before my current SC1455.
  3. Poor fire shrimp. Jus it's bad luck to be housed inside a reefer tank with a grouper who does not know about compatibility issue. Or maybe it was added purposely as a food source for this grouper?
  4. Moorish idols. Very difficult to get them feeding. Very choosy & would choose to strave to death, unless u see it feeding already at the LFS before buying it.
  5. Camel shrimp looks quite similar to peppermint. The 1st is not reef safe whereas the later only eat atiptasia & does not touch corals. But, there are exceptions sometimes for the later.
  6. Don't think can breed them. Seem them doing in my tank a few times but till now did not see any babies.
  7. But still rem to wash your hands after handling them. Make it a good habit & i believe the feeling of sea water on your hands do not feel that good & the smell of the corals u have touched accidently.
  8. U can try mushrooms, rics or yuma. Not toxic & relatively easy.
  9. Yes, some zoas/ palys do release some toxic when they re stressed, either by handling them or disturb them. It is a natural defense. During any handling, it is best to wear rubber gloves & safety spec. After handling, we must wash our hands/ tools used with liquid soap. U can't be sure & it is always better to be on the safe side rather thsn ending up in hospital, putting your/ your family members life at risk. All corals do have some slime or defence mechanism. Good practise is always better to ensure we enjoy the hobby, reefing, rather than restrict ourselves to the corals that we can keep. A rubber gloves, safety specs & liqiud soap does not cost that much compared to corals & human lives. Also, handling them in water also pose some risk as they do released the toxics into the water when your hands are still inside. Wash your hands & arms.

    Xenia!

Back wall. Not bad idea. But what if it grows & cover up the sides & front wall of your tank as well? Then u will need to view your tank from the top.

    Xenia!

They are quite aggressive, grows fast (given the right conditions) & will even overgrow onto other corals. Juz make sure the placement is such that they have limited space to grow. Putting them in the middle of sandbed is one example. Don't think they can latch onto sandbed. But pulsing xenias are nice.
  12. The only solution is to catch them. Be careful when catching them, there are reports of them attaching themselves onto humans & suck human blood instead.
  13. Water parameters, flow & lightings are critical for success too.
  14. Feed them fuana marine ultra zoas foods. After few months, your eyes will 'pop out' by the colors they displayed. As with any other foods, control your feedings. Another method is by using color elements. There are various brands, choose one sets that u like.
  15. U can do without chiller if u do not intend to keep any corals, using T5. If u re using MH, chiller is a must.
  16. Algae scrubber. If built correctly with the right size, it will be very powerful in removing both no3 & po4 at the same time. Apart from having to clean regularly, there will not have any costs involved. 100% natural too. Also running reverse photoperiod, algae scrubber can help to minimize the impact caused by ALK swing. More nutrients will be recycle back to the display tank for corals to feed on if u do not intend to run protein skimmer. There will be no harm if u plan to run protein skimmer alongside scrubber.
  17. Photon 32. I remember that time u re asking for anyone interested so can import in together & changed to more blueish at no extra cost for orders of a few units? Am i correct? They re using bridgelux not cree LEDs. Looks big & bulkly but performance wise will not lost to razor. Can swap & change out the LEDs too, based on what i have read. 200Watt monster. More than enough coverage for 3ft. 90cm length.
  18. I still remember when using razor, i had to climb up & down to program the 2 channels. Tired. Old man like me cannot take it. Young man like u sure no problem.
  19. What's more, the controller used to control the different intensity of different channels is wireless, a tablet using wifi running on andriod. Now, that is cool.
  20. Bro, like what u said, cool white is only adjusted for our viewing pleasure. When there is demand, there will be supply. FYI, orphek altantik V2 cool white LED concentrate on giving out light spectrum from 400 - 460nm, so, their cool whites (apart from other colors, blues, hyperviolet, red) is actually important for PUR as well as for viewing pleasure. At least what they are doing now gives me the feeling that somebody is finally heading towards the right direction & not juz making a 'shotgun' LED that 'shot out' every single spectrum, which are mostly useless for corals & waste of our $$$.
  21. Must be ex loh. Very pretty indeed.
  22. Epoxy needs at least 3 to 4 hrs to cure & set (depending on the load). 20mins is just not enough.
