Bro, can PM me more on this negative side, so i can hve more guide. So far i hve been reading good reviews & their corals colors are super. None on negative side. Maybe those meet with failures juz keep quiet, which is human nature- paiseh. I behave like that also.

Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Bro, u mean redsea pro is as good as tropic marine? Wanted to switch to redsea pro from tropic marine pro but worried might not be as good. Maybe i.can give this reasea salt a trial. More economical. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

What happened if I remove my CarBoN ?
brojj replied to Bulldozer's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
As a general guide, 3 full tablespoon of carbon per 50gallon (total volume) is enough to remove yellowish color. And change out every month or water turn yellowish, whichever comes 1st. Should not have problem removing carbon. Maybe nutrient will slowly creep up but if u hve a good skimmer & stable bioload to handle, should not be problem. Have fun with your new clam. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

How to judge whether they have settled down is they will stopped jumping around & secures themselves firmly to the surface they are being placed at, also meaning they have found a suitable position.

An article that can provide more info: http://animal-world.com/Aquarium-Coral-Reefs/Squamosa-Clams

And remember, don't pull out the clam after it has settle down. It could get killed due to injury. Clams choose their fav. position, not we choose for them. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Also, place your clam surround by rocks temporary till it secures itself. Normally a few days if it likes the position. Placement of clam is a technique to learn too as they sometimes can be fussy. U might need to relocate them if they dun want to settle down. I got so fustrated one time that i juz leave it on the sand bed, which it did not survive due to not enough light from my previous previous lightset. Good luck. This clam is a heavy investment. Don't place it near anemones, they will 'attack' the clam. Give it enough space to grow. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

ULNS is ultra low nutrient system as your no3 & po4 as u mentioned is zero. No nutrient ocurs in ULNS where there is not enough nutrient/ dissolved organics in the water for corals to feed from. Your light should be ok since only 1 feet plus, maybe no need to increase too much on white. Increase bit by bit every 2 weeks on the light and observe if there is any improvement. Reduce back if the corals show stress like zoas closed up and won't open for days. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Keep your KH between 7 to 7.9 since your system is ULNS. Ca keep slighty on the higher side as a precaution, 430- 450ppm would be fine. Monitor KH & Ca closely & regularly after adding in the clam. U might want to consider increasing your white light very slowly since u are keeping SPS & clam soon. Keep a photo period of minimum 7hrs. Feed coral food as frequently as much possible, maybe every alternate days as your tank no nutrient at all but keep track of your NO3. Don't crash the tank with too much feeding. In nature, clams are found attached to the rock but placement on sand bed is ok so long that there is enough light reaching there, your current white might not be enough for placement at bottom. I don't like to use bsi gel or any expoy to fix it in one place. If u want, make sure u glue at the correct place so that it can still open up. After i dose lugol's, my clam open up more. Before, it was not so good. But lugol dosing must be with care. Don't recommend if your clam is doing well. I place my clam at mid level. Don't know the light requirement for this clam but some needs more. Clams, IMO, not that easy to keep. A few died at my hands for no reason till recently, this one is doing very well. Good luck. Btw, how high is your tank? What is the distance of your lightset to the tank? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

I am currently using Aquapharm seabalance, Part A & B. No issue with precipitate. The good thing about this product is that Part A consist of Calcium, Mg & Strontium. Part B consist of boron, carbonate & bicarbonate. Have been using them for one year plus now. So far so good. The only thing is that Mg tend to be on the higher side, 1480ppm, with Ca 425ppm. I guess should be OK as I do not need to dose Mg seprately, which is lacking in some brands. For Strontium & boron, I did not measure. . KH maintain around 7.7. Dosage will varied between different tanks. For my tank, Part A around 30ml per day, Part B around 20ml per day. This high dosage is due to SPS & a Clam inside my tank. I always buy the 5L ones as it is more economical.

Better start with 60% first then slowly ramp up to 80%, maybe 5% every 2 weeks. That is what i doing now, learn this this thro' hard way. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

I have also upgraded from G2 170W to razor 160W, 10K during march. The coverage for the sides & rear will not be as good as G2 after comparision. The same areas will be more shady. However, the lights are stronger based on the facts that some of my SPS are bleached running full power on razor. My tank 3x3x2. U might want to take note of that, for your reference. Yes, put them at shady places. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Put at places where u can fed them easily. Fed them every other day. They have big appetite. Whether have lights or not does not affect them. However, they prefer to be not under strong lighting. U can google for more info on how to take care of this LPS. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Swee. What is the name of that zoas? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Thks for the info & advise. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Yes, perhaps you are right. I am trying to find them but so far, no success. Thought Zeovit users would know where to get them here. Guess would have to order online.
-
As a precaution, maybe u would like to shift them back to the previous location, let it settle down first, poly open and then shift up again. This is to reduce stress due ro change in light intensity & let it concentrate on recovering from the stress it suffered after falling onto the sandbed. No promise but better to let it handle 1 stress rather than 2. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Hi fellow reefers. I believe some are still using ZEOVit system for their reef. Juz wanted to find out where to get them locally, stable supply, in LFS? Wanted to get coral snow & coral vitalizer to try out. Thks in advance. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
