  1. Imo, SOTR is one of the most rare and unique mille / prostrata available in the market. So it's not surprise that many has not seen it in person to appreciate it's beauty. As in most commodity, rare stuff are hard to come by and are priced according to it's beauty and rarity. For your frag size and health, price is consider very reasonable - if you are not in the hurry, just keep it for those Someone Out There Roaming around for gems and they will find you someday.
  2. I agree with Rockyboy's comment. First before doing anything drastic it's best to ensure you get an accurate ( via reasonably good test kits) reading of your water condition / parameters. Get the results, if confirm that your calcium and mg level is too high, then the only way is to employ water change as suggested by other bros here.
  3. Bro, you are real fast action guy...lol. Releasing them together at one go would be the best way to prevent any serious squabbling. Hopefully they will be at work right away for your hair algea. Do note that you need to force them to take the algea by not feeding them with other more palatable food, else they would simply ignore the algea and go for other food. Wheather or not they would tackle your current algea type is a matter of hit or miss, not all YT will be alike. But sailfin would have a better chance, as i have explained to you earlier. Cheers
  4. Try getting two small yellow tang / Sailfin tang, most likely will solve your algae issue....at least it works for me, zoas are able to spread nicely
  5. Wa seh...swee ! I can imagine when the zoas garden populated with colorful flowers...like those tulips in Europe
  6. Bro Weisiang's SPS is colorful and healthy, imo his tank is one of the TOTQ material
  7. Gentle reminder - LAST GSS order will be on this coming Sunday 12 NOON. Apology that no late request will be entertained to be fair for those who has support GSS
  8. Honkit should know the reason why. But i like your current color, it's more rich in coloration. Growth slow is something beyound our comprehenion...could be placing or could be simply waiting for it's own timing to begin growth spurt.
  9. Yes the capitata basic color is green base with blue polyp. It tends to have a lighter green with very nice blue polyp under higher lighting. Btw what is the cause of the kh swing ?
  10. Hi Jamie, I am curious as to what you mean by "more fluid colour play of the LEDs. I do not really like bright bon-bon colours" ? Do you mean you are more keen on watching the lightings then the colors of the corals itself ? Also i see that you do keep records...and mentioned about keeping different tanks with T5 and LED respectively for comparison. It would really help us sps lovers here to see what is the drastic difference in sps colors between the two lightings system which you have employed and compared. I have considering using LEDs for a while, just that i have not been fully convinced...perhaps your kind input would spur those on the sideline into trying the LED (the good ones). With due respect to your many years of experience in the marine aquarium hobby, and your recent insightful info on SPS id, i would be delighted to further hear from you on the above subject and hope it would also help the reefing coummunity here as well on the understanding of LED lightings.
  11. Lol...thanks bro for the upz. You should be hearing from me very soon
  12. Lol...boss D, i have been waiting for you to sponsor a LED light set all along but so far didnt hear any signal from you for quite a while. So i go Sim Lim Tower and buy those cheapo one strip LED to quench my thrist. Now use it as my routine night watch torch light to make sure no pest for my zoas wahaha
  13. Marineman has rightly pointed out the single most important factor for successful SPS reefing - water quality. In my own understanding on water quality, i would boradly advocate two main factors i.e. Nutrient level and Stability ( where the basic parameters Kh / Ca / Mg / Sg are within the tolerance range). Next in line will then be lightings. Not to say that lightings is less important but imo water quality would be a prerequisite before we even talk about what lightings to use. Btw I am still learning eventhough I have been reefing for a while (though not as long as Jamie ) ...but am sometime surprise by how fast a new comer could catch up and keep a relatively good sps tank just within a year or two. Kind of tell me that it doesnt matter how long you stay in the hobby but how humble you are to learn and willing to keep an open mind to ideas and methods of reefing
  14. Bro, it's a Digitata Capitata ( lot's of tata LOL ). Your sps looks very healthy, colors are good Perhaps using more white lights while taking pic will bring out more colors
  15. Lol...yeah KH would be the one that i am aiming. But i seriously doubt they will ever have it soon.
  16. Sps is a wonderful family of marine corals that response, imo quite dynamically to the lightings environment. Like Honkit, I have seen many jaw dropping tanks ( using T5 and Mh or a combination ) over the last 9 years of reefing but sadly not LEDs lit tank in the local scene still. Perhaps Jellyfisch ( Jamie ) would help us appreciate more on his strong advocate on 'Good LEDs' lightset with some pictures of his SPS coloration. While the advantages of LEDs interms of energy consumption ( directly or indirectly ) impact to overall marine tank is well know, ultimately it's still the end results i.e. coloration that a reefer is seeking that matters. Having an open mind to options is always good. As long as it produce the results one is seeking. Looking forward to Jamie's sharing on the pictures ( if any ) and let us admire on his success in using the LEDs.
  17. Refer to bro Honkit's tank thread and you can see what he means...the sps color is one word --- GOOD !
  18. Thanks Bro for your support Sps GSS package ends in 7 days, strictly no extention ! For those who has reserved the Mega20 / Mega30 deal but yet to place deposit, kindly do so asap
