  1. Do post pics of your tank when it comes. waiting eagerly to see the silicone work,
  2. comycus, It is also possible to use this method in conjunction with a Jaubert plenum system, and most likely, with a deep sand bed system. By adding a thin layer of sulfur beads just above the plenum, or bare bottom of the saltwater aquarium in a deep sand bed, you can use the anaerobic environment there to allow sulfur-based denitrification to occur. This might allow Jaubert or deep sand bed systems to carry a heavier bioload by increasing their denitrifying capacity. You could also set up a system in a refugium or adjacent sump to allow you to add such a system to an existing saltwater aquarium without having to tear it down first http://www.fishchannel.com/media/saltwater-aquariums/aquarium-care/sulfur-reactor.aspx.pdf TS is? No point spending tons of money on lifestock when you have inadequate filtration. a $1000 fish doesn't mean it can survive in waste laden water, unless that's a robotic fish. many overseas forums have users that have tried and commented. too many to post over here. I understand what BELL is trying to say. I am at the same phase her. Items are coming in, can't really do much till arrival of items, maybe then can choose to use, retrofit or sell off.
  3. it's not new, many reefers did it as an alternative to dsb. basically some sulphur beads below a thin layer of sand.
  4. led is a point light source, naturally, that will happen. if you don't mind wasting a few leds, I have actually came up with a diffuser system for leds, basically an epoxy/acrylic block that's epoxied on top of the led. the block is filled with some silver/aluminum/steel dust. old hard disk crashed, so I have no photos to upload. I may be doing some for my ATS light source though, I have also tried using a bunch of fibre optics that's only compacted at the light input end and spread-ed out at the light output end. Works quite well but very expensive. Useful if you are lazy. DE lighting sells some 90 degree lens for led, you can try that. Optional convex lens ¨C clear lens, striped pattern lens: (these will be sold separately). http://www.delightings.com/index.cfm?GPID=30&Print=1 . if I am not wrong, you may be able to find 120 degree lens in sim lim. I don't really like lens as it's expensive and not fun to use! If you are wondering why I did not use light diffusers, try going to night safari with a frosted spectacles. Frosting reduces light intensity!
  5. i intend to use mirrors to do the reflections, going to be a box that functions as a reflector for the light as well, since I need the light not to go in only 1 direction, but everywhere. My dream tank is a tank that's more densely packed with fishes and SPS than Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan's population density, Trying to create a compact, fail safe nitrate filter that uses multiple mechanisms that eventually eliminates water changes. Why waste space to have 1 piece of tray when you can stack a lot of pieces? Intensive algae farming. Maybe can sell off as fake spirulina,
  6. I don't think marine snow and black sand mixes well,
  7. if you prefer yellow sandbed, might worth a shot to use sulphur beads as part of substrate, save the cost for a sulphur denitrator. I've seen some people doing that,
  8. Big project? haha, nah, is many small projects. since my tank is not going to be huge. trying to grow some spring onions for cooking, haha. yup, it is a pump for skimmers. more information at http://www.eheim.asia/prod_pump_compactPlusM.html

  10. I need a lot of small pieces, I am working on a project "2 dimension-ally stacked high density ATs". Followed by "3D versions"
  11. 3M double sided tape may not be strong enough to hold the weight of the 3 way timer.
  12. kaykay, you can refer to http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/3M-Industrial/Adhesives/Product/Bonding-Tapes/VHB-Tape/. As this is an industrial product, bear in mind to follow the instructions strictly to achieve maximum strength. it is all right to use on painted wall, not on paint that's already peeling though. I have some if you need, Remember, it is a permanent solution, trying to unmount the tape may cause peeling of paint. If you need to often remove the equipment, I would suggest using tons of fasteners: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/3M-Industrial/Adhesives/Product/Fasteners/Product-Catalog-SNAPS/?N=5255642&rt=c3 Yes. High-strength bonding tape is a proven alternative to screws, rivets, welds and other forms of mechanical fasteners. Unlike screws or rivets – which join materials at a single point – high-strength bonding tape permanently adheres one substrate to another while spreading the stress load across the entire length of the joint. Once materials are joined with 3M™ VHB™ Tape a virtually indestructible “weld” is created. Skyscrapers, cell phones, refrigerators … all rely on high-strength bonding tape to complete one or more steps in the assembly process. Extraordinary strength, conformability, versatility and UV- and weather-resistance makes 3M™ VHB™ Tape great for bonding: • Glass • Painted surfaces • Metal • Painted/sealed wood & concrete • Outdoor & harsh environmental applications • Plastics • Many more! what timer brand are you using? And for those who ask, no, they didn't use VHB tape to mount skyscrapers to the ground
  13. can always go east coast get mud, haha
  14. you can always use VHB tapes. I did that with mine, quite strong
  15. How much does it cost? Where to get them? I tried emailing hanna us and sg, both not replying. At least hach replied
  16. If you are an expert, higher rpm can be used for acrylic, but need to be precise in force application and timing. For novice, low rpm is better and easier. Glass must use low rpm with wetting. High rpm will shatter glass. I prefer proxxon. Dremel feels like those cheapo rc cars in mustafa. Proxxon feels like rolls royce turbine engine on a rc car. Remember, rotary tool cutting is about using the speed to cut, not using force from user. Don't try to 'dig" into the material while cutting
