WTB: Solite 1W Bluemoon LED Light
MadScientist replied to mw1611's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
that's what I am thinking. Is solite better than arcadia? -
Ignoring the pricing, which one offers better efficiency (electrical wattage vs cooling wattage), reliability and noise level?
-
Agree. Don't return chiller to sump, return direct to tank. Most probably you will regret when you return to sump

Pvc quite unnatural. I rather give the pair work to do by allowing them to constantly remodel and maintaining their hole -

extra fan = extra wattage, noise and higher evaporative rate. ya, a number of people experience better growth rate with t5 than led. that's why there's some whom use both. if you factor in costs of good t5 tubes and electricity, led will be slightly more cost effective than t5 in the long run. -
not really cheap, haha

Starting a 2x1.5x1.5ft nano tank.
MadScientist replied to Evolutionz's topic in Members Tank & Specs
T5, heat goes to tank, higher wattage, need to keep replacing tubes regularly, unit tend to be bigger/bulkier. Led, literally no heat going to tank, lower wattage, slimmer, nicer looking units, no need for bulb replacement, shimmering effect (like having MH without the heat). Which 1 will you choose? -

I used to use a suction gun, basically a gigantic syringe. I would prefer to use hands, nets and scales don't hang out well. You do not need to squeeze them into the new hole. Cover up the old hole. Dig a new hole. Release them in line of sight with the new hole. Most of the time, they will explore and choose the new hole since they can save digging. If you have a stubborn pair, can always keep covering the holes you do not want till they get fed up or dig at the right place, haha
