  1. No place to put, need an inline solution, haha. Does TEM work well in our climate? Went to many lfs and literally all claimed TEM doesn't work for us in this country.
  2. resun cl85, 150, dolphin mini chillers, iceprobe, etc. looking for all tem/tec chillers.
  3. bro, if there's more frags, i want one. looking for small stuff,
  4. got it from a nice reefer. up again, need 1 more, haha
  5. Wow, all more expensive than mine, haha. L1 and l2 is live and neutral. T1 and t2 follows l1 and 2. L1 and 2 is from source. T1 and 2 is to chiller. The output (3 and 4) from controller just have to connect 1 port to 1nc of contactor, the 2nc hook back to the other port of controller to form a closed loop. For the nc, have to check your manual to confirm Please make sure you finger is still next to the switch after turning on for safety, haha
  6. Any purple coralline algae experts out there? I would like to ask you all a question. Would coralline algae be able to grow around 1cm2 in a day? I have dosed calcium the night before and alkalinity last night. Both are overdosed. Is that even possible for them to grow at this rate?
  7. Freezing is only painful for warm blooded animals as the body fights against the drop in temperature. Fish showed not much response to freezing, just showing a slower swimming movement and lower respiratory rate. Chemical euthanasia is a difficult procedure. Too acute an overdose and pain will be felt as reactions are similar to a drug overdose. Too low a dose and the fish will be aware of what is going on. There's cases of medical anaesthesia where patients are fully aware of the pain and surroundings during operation, however, they were paralysed, hence not emitting physical response. Anaesthesia is a science which is extremely poorly understood. Euthanasia is a form of anaesthesia whereby the total dosage used is much higher. I have euthanised animals before, I have noticed some teared after the dose is injected while some reacted with muscular spasms. It seems to me euthanasia is not as humane as perceived.
  8. What brand would that be? Complex to remove the risk of melting the contacts on the controller, hence the need for a contactor. I have to agree that there is a risk for DIY, that's why the box is IP66, haha. I still have not seal the holes for wires with silicone yet though. Bring water tight, even if the components burn in the box, it should extinguish itself very rapidly. I also chose a proper rating wires instead of thinner wires for use in and out of box to minimise any overheating of cables (excluding DC power to fan since it is only 12V, 0.65A - max 1.3A, even so, wires are still thicker than those fitted by fan manufacturer).
  9. Depends. Expensive lifestock, new. Don't care about lifestock, used. Used chillers tend to have a lot more problems and most sellers rarely detail to you all the problems, some do not even let you test. Luckily for me, my chiller was sold by a very nice reefer whom detailed me with all the problems and enforced testing. Not so lucky for one of my skimmer and return pump though. A good point to remember, repair costs with the used chiller cost may be near or exceed new chiller cost, especially when you include livestock loss
  10. Maybe the bacteria from nsw cannot survive the trip as well? Haha Bacteria is everywhere. There's a lot of reefers reporting nutrient reduction after use though. I don't think it's placebo effect?
  11. <p> No worries, i am noob too. 3 red notes, that's considered expensive as I bought during weekend with my controller. Ask for contactor for motors, mine is for 3 phase motor. There's contactors for 1 phase motor too. I actually wanted to use the third port for earth, but decided to have the earth from chiller to be always connected to ground instead of only when contactor is active. Extra safety feature, haha.If you want, I can give you the brand and model number of mine.
