  1. Thanks, starting to think how to stack the corals at different levels keke
  2. I am using programmed mode. Programmed from 11am - 11pm with varied intensity throughout the day
  3. Coral beauty may nip on the clam so probably not a good choice but I heard people who have no problem with coral beauty so it may be a personality thingy.
  4. Thanks, will show more as the corals are stocked up I created the 2 'brothers' to isolate the carpet aneomone on the left island while keeping the right island safe for corals I am thinking of a theme of soft coral, zoas, mushrooms but I know it is hard to resist the stunning colored LPS/SPS
  5. Just a humble remake since the cyano attack. Intend to create a cosy home for my clownfish. Not much corals in aquarium, have not decided to go for coral theme yet And special thanks to Razali for the wonderful lighting
  6. IMO, Dymax IQ5 tank is barely sufficient for 1 frogfish since these fishes can grow up to 6 - 10 inches. After adding another 3 frogfishes, you have 5 now? Thats really mission impossible. In the wild, frogfishes devour entire preys such as fishes and crustaceans. They are big eaters so I guess their bioload is relatively higher. With only 3.5 gallon of water in IQ5, even moderate release of bioload can drastically increase the ammonia concentration and eventually killing the fishes. In most water change, IMO, only up to 20% of water is recommended so I doubt it can help to reduce the ammonia concentration by alot. Just feel that IQ5 tank is not really suitable for frogfish.
  7. You may try: - Dwarf Zebra Hermit Crab (Calcinus laevimanus), Electric Blue Hermit Crab (Calcinus elegans). But they are notorious as snail killers so if you have snails, then they are out. - Cerith Snail (Cerithium sp.), Bumble Bee Snail (Engina sp.) - saw today at Coral Farm. - Sand Sifting Sea Star (Astropecten polycanthus) - saw today at Coral Farm.
  8. I got this information online: To get an exact answer, you must know the percent composition of the salt water, or the ratio of salt to water. Roughly, salt water weighs 64 lbs/cu. ft., as opposed to fresh water, which is about 62.2 lbs/cu. ft. There are 7.4805 gallons in a cubic foot. So a gallon of salt water weighs 8.556 lbs. And 1 gallon = 3.7854 liters So 130 litre is roughly 34.3 gallons which translate to 293.83 lbs which is around 133 KGs. So can explain to the taxi driver is like 2 more persons in the taxi? hehehe... but of course I guess he will be more concerned whether your water is properly secured...surely dont want to spill the water into his taxi as he make quick turns...haha
  9. My case worse lor. 4ft tank in the balcony. Scare the balcony will drop. Just kidding
  10. Thanks. I am battling them from many angles. Avoid over-feeding Performing 20% water change weekly Dosing PO4 remover Scrap the cyano off the rocks And I am definitely seeing results
  11. http://www.wildsingapore.com/wildfacts/mollusca/gastropoda/volutidae/melo.htm I guess.
  12. You may want to try this >> http://aqadvisor.com/AqAdvisorMarine.php but I feel that it is not perfect, just use as a rough gauge. In reality there are a number of factors that the number of fishes that can be kept for instance, the size of fishes the number of inverterbates since they also contribute bioload is it a FOWLR or reef aquarium - FOWLR in general can keep more fishes than reef aquarium the effectiveness of equipments you have such as protein skimmer and of course how much effort you are willing to put in for water change, weekly, bi-weekly, etc.
  13. Dark background can bring out the contrast of your coral colors. Personally what I prefer.
  14. Wow...that is such a healthy beautiful piece!
  15. Erm sorry, dont mind I asked this. I read many brothers mention 'Ah Beng' - he is from which LFS? thanks! And anyone can tell me where is Reborn? or no more already? Thank you
  16. Hey, sorry to hijack this thread but it caught my attention on the MP40. Does anyone know which LFS still selling MP40? Thank you
  17. Thanks all. Ya, I have bought the same fan and I was so surprised that my temp went from 31.8 to 28.4 degree! It is good product but not sure what is its lifespan. As for the 4 tubes for T5 HO, can I also ask does it have to be all white bulbs? or can I have 2 white 2 blue bulbs? Thank you.
  18. Hi all, I have done some read up online and found that T5 HO can be used for soft corals. But I read that there are suggestions to go for 4 tubes, some said 6 tubes - so kinda lost how much is sufficient. There is a site that said 4 Watt per gallon for soft corals so assuming my tank is 90 gallons, I would need 360 watts? Each T5 HO is 54W, seems like need 6 - 7 tubes??? Hence my confusion - really hope someone can help to shed some light?
  19. Dont think I am in favor of dosing antibiotics in the tank. I see if I can find anything online. Thanks.
  20. Hi bros, I have a quick question. My current tank is under the cyano attack - situation is quite bad hence I am thinking of moving my entire livestock to another aquarium temporary while I remake the saltwater in my main tank. My question is - since my live rocks are covered with cyano, should I put them back into the main tank immediately after the water is remade? I assume with the new tank water, there should not be PO4 inside to support the cyano - so hopefully the cyano on the rocks will be gone even after putting them back? If putting the rocks back to main tank immediately is not recommended, then how should I treat the rocks to make them cyano-free first before putting back? Thank you for reading this
  21. For biological controls, the Banded Goby, Sixline Wrasse, Yellow Wrasse can eat them. I read that peppermint shrimps may too.
  22. If you have unwanted credit card, or other card of similar materials - those are quite useful to scape off the stubborn algae. It works for me.
