To throw, keep or give?
clownfish_forever replied to clownfish_forever's topic in General Reefkeeping_
mostly softie, such as frags of common zoas, green mushrooms, and one green plate. -
Hi brothers, I have a few corals that are not doing well. Most of them have simply been in such condition for months but I simply couldn't bear to throw them. Because I always want to hope that they will recover although I doubt so. What do you do for such corals? Throw, keep or give away? Just want to hear some opinions...

Thanks all for the advices. What about putting coral chips in refugium. Does it also help?

Hi brothers, Need some advices on my low KH issue. I have just tested my parameters today: KH = 6.1, pH = 8, mg = 1300, ca = 400 I have been doing manual dosing using Brightwell Alkalin 8.3 either once or twice per week but I can never get my KH to 8. I am not keeping SPS, just softies and LPS. 1. Should I worry about KH 6.1? 2. How can I raise the KH? I heard of baking soda too but not sure how much to add. Thanks!

It has been so long since my last update. Just to share some photos and a tribute to my 1-year old (in captivity) carpet anemone

I use par38 65,000k. it is a fantastic light - the cheato is growing crazy. 12 hours per day - reverse hours of display tank.

I had a couple of lettuce slugs that come as hitchhikers when I purchased turtle weeds. They are algae grazers so their presence is never a bad thing for me. Unfortunately once I introduced an adorned wrasse, they perish.

Troublemaker! Help!
clownfish_forever replied to clownfish_forever's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Unfortunately this bugger is super smart and strong. I did catch it once with a pinsette before but it managed to pull off. Anyway, I cannot tolerate it anymore so I took out the suspected rocks to find it this morning. I almost gave up, couldnt find it. While I was placing back the rocks back to the aquarium, I did one last scan - and found it hiding deep inside a hole. I took a pinsette and tried to remove it without success...super strong. So I used the freshwater dip and pulled...finally! out the clam murderer! hahahaha! -
well said *** thumbs up ***

Hi brothers. Need some advice on how to trap a troublemaker crab that pushes off my corals and murdered my small clam! I create bottle trap and also tried purchased traps and used market prawn but it simply evade all of these traps. Every morning the market prawn are left untouched! I am trying not to take out the rock to disturb the scaping. I am simply tearing my hair. Hahaha. Please help. Thanks.

Get the smaller juvenile should be able to keep together. However, as once a dominant female emerges she may start to bully the others. I had 5 before and they live happily till I introduced a host anemone they started to fight. Ended up only the dominant pair is in the tank. The others are killed or ended up in my refugium. Sigh.

I have to say it bears no surprises. Most of what you can see there, you can probably see them in Singapore too. However, the use of artifical corals that so beautifully scape the aquariums is a delightful sight - I probably have not seen such display before. Anyway, I was one of the first visitors that day, so I have the luxury of 'owning' the whole place for myself - no noisy tourists so it is a very relaxing experience for me. Ask me if I would go again ~~ probably not. Anyway, when I travel, I make it a MUST to visit the country's sea/ocean world -

6. Anemone - not sure what type but it always buries its base inside the sand. Bought from ML at $30 and was purple color. Now has grown to 3 times the size - slightly bigger than palm size but color is brown already, think because I moved it to refugium with 65,000k light. Letting go at $10. -
