I would agree with u on this .... Only for someone who has a small tank and only rely on weekly wC for replenishment of elements. However if someone with a bigger tank doing a 10 or 20% wC ... A 20% water with 400ca will not have a dent on the existing 80% presently 440ca , and further more if that tank is on element dosing or CR. Even for someone doing daily dose will somehow over or underdose an element (unless they test the water daily before dosing) Let's put in a make believe case study. A small marine tank started out with 440ca ,8dkh , by the end of the week due to coral makan .. Ca drop to 380, dkh to 6. He uses a good salt giving 440ca and 8dkh = no good inconsistent param? So this tank started daily dosing pump keeping param stable , end of the week wC with good salt same param = very good , the following week he adds more corals and they Makan more ca still drops 380 dkh 7 . Used good salt = no good inconsistent param? So my point is .. expensive salt or cheap salt they are still salt ..either way we still have to add those elements. Ps : my point of view only .. People still buy BMW when a Toyota still get from point A to point B.

Sorry to ask ... But what's all the fuss about salt brand? What's the difference? If talking about elements like calcium,kh,mag, don't u guys dose those elements?
-
Switch on wm too , helps move dirt into sump. If u leave them off , they are gonna blow dirt off later and ure gonna get a cloudy tank again ..
-
Increase the return pump flow too , u need to have bigger water turnover from DT to sump filters. Switch off all FR , u are only getting dirt into them , start only when water is clean.
-
Oh uve not turn on your skimmer .. Maybe that's the problem
-
Increase the flow, blow the unwanted debris out to the sump and filters , don't let them settle back onto the sand , The filter socks will sort out the bigger impurities and the skimmer will skim out the finer ones.
-
Is there enough flow in the tank? Is the skimmer skimming good? did u mix in the bacteria packet that came with the livesand?

Pressure in 2 feet of water? Really?

Mantis ate the skunk?

Increase the amount of GFO , start up your algae scrubber . That should help remove the p04, Once done add some Sps
-
Can T off using 2 gate valve for better control of flow .
-
But the guys in this forum say no3 and no4 at zero most corals will be happy.
-
Bro ,your tank so big water so much sure will be no problem , even with full Sps also no problem!!
-
Oh readings are taken on API test kits .. May or maynot be accurate. Maybe someone can do some test with better kits.

No I don't dose additives except some amino every now and then , Tested some nsw today , Salinity 1.025 kh is 7 cal is 400 nitrate is 0 So all is ok

I run 2 scrubbers , biosphere in the overflow and phosguard in a FR and weekly wC with NSW. Oh and some mangrove , which I plan to decom soon. Like I said overkill but water is great .

Vinegar, vodka, bio pallets, bio sphere etc etc ,all these are carbon product ,food for bacteria. Removes po4 and no3. Regular test will show if they are effective. As for kalkwasser , it is calcium and kh both in 1. So if talking about calcium and kh it all depends on the amount of coral in the tank and their consumption , regular testing on these element will show if it is sufficient Different tanks have different bio loads ,feeding and such. So it's best to monitor your own tank and determine what's best I personally overdo the export of nutrients ,no3,po4 and have my own method and regime which I think is best but may not be good for someone else tank setup.

It should be the other way

Something is wrong with the water ,

As above I have some frags to trade , 2inch,3inch,4inch frags. They are lumi green bythe way , if u have some gel glue or epoxy laying around doing nothing or some small red digi, forest fire or pink salmon they would be great trade items. @ CCK crescent . http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=597+322+521&pcatid=521
