Hahah it worked! Thanx dude, no more irritating speech box...

From the Javascript description (when u put yr mouse pointer over the emoticon), it seems to represent fear? Cause it is named "Ph34r"

I clean mine every 3 to 4 days, cause the grime coats the throat of the skimmer...Is this overkill? Does too much cleaning do any harm to the skimming?
-
Sinter at Sim Lim, the light shop...I think it was $18, but might be wrong (anyways it is definitely cheaper than the rest!!!) Ask for 'Coral Blue' It's written on the tube i think. Hope this helps?

Hmmm couldnt resist chipping in regarding Actinic FL; go for the Phillips 20W true actinics instead? It costs just less than $20, has a larger tube diameter, and is more purplish instead of blue (which is wat i've read for TRUE ACTINICS). After changing to this tube, i noticed my corals glowing brighter, and the light can travel deeper into the tank, even under the LR sometimes...

Like to add in a question here... How long do u guys clean yr skimmer on average? Cause the gunk tends to accumulate and coat the throat of the skimmer, so does this affect the skimming abilities? Issit better to clean with tank water or tap water? Cause the skimming seems to be reduced after every cleaning, for a day or two...

Yah, if not they will be stoner for very long before dying...lucky mine has adapted to my month old tank...

OMG this thread is getting out of hand!!! Er, or issit PAW?

AT, you're confusing me...if i didnt test how i know they were above 700 and have fallen back to 500...

I dont think UV helps right Tanzy? U said it is useless for marine use, that day...Yikes, just got my first clam yesterday, and now u guys are talking abt clam-losing stories...(Sorry abt yr loss AT - i remember u had a few large ones right?) Now not sure if i can get the bugger past the first month...Btw, anyone knows if these starfishes eat clams? I had the brown guy climbing all the way up to the clam from its normal low positions, and it had one of its legs almost touching the clam mantle...SCARY....

Me calcium was at 700++ for a month before too, and i saw the calcium slowly getting 'stuck' onto the glass in small small patches (looked like Coralline at first, but cant be white rite?). All because, like Dodo, i was keen to 'exploit' the goodness of Kalk and added the stuff dilligently w/o testing for levels at all... Now, after adding one more PH (i think it could help in our cases), upping my KH to above 10 and doing a few water changes, Ca has dropped down to 500+!!! So the morale of the stories is: "DONT THROW IN ANY ADDITIVES THAT U CANT TEST FOR"

X-Japan, where can i get a grounding device for my tank? Issit those Grounding probes that we see mentioned by online reef retailers? I ALWAYS get a painful buzz whenever my finger first touches the water (its even worse when i touch the hand to the tank itself too - the current max sia, hahah) Its worse when i have a open wound - it feels like someone gave me a prick from a HUGE needle Arrgh!!! Better still, any DIY plan to show me? Thanx a million -
I use both, and they all rust!!! Hahahah...advice is as Barracuda said: Wipe any drippage and maintain it (havent heard of any collapses as yet! )

Frankly, i think that Ecosystem sold in Downtown East is priced out-of-this-world? U could setup a 3ft tank with that kinda money! Anyways, i'm thinking of getting this kind after chinese new year; anyone interested? We can share the shipping!!! Reef Fanatic PS: I did a short search for UK marine retailers online, and came up with no good ones...SIGH

Maybe yr Mandarin was a worm-hater hahah! BTW, do flatworms 'hitch-hike' onto fishes now and then? Cause i noticed my damsel, Tang and Mandarin all had a round bug taking a ride on their fin once!!!

Ooops here i am to ask for some help again AT, or anyone else; how long does the cyano bloom usually last? I re-did my 3ft and ensured most things went smoothly, but still got hit by a sand-based red slime bloom...

Ooooh our wise turtle has spoken...i thought all along that they do shift spectrum to reddish side...Thanx for info Tanzy!

Hmmm me abit puzzled by my Sera NO3 testkit (yah yah i know i shld change, but gotta use this up first...) After i test the water and read from the tube, it is just a very slight orangy-red color, but after i leave it on the table (without cap) for half an hour, the whole thingy turns bright red!!! So do i take the first initial reading or the one half an hour later?!?! Issit because of the atmosphere nitrogen thats causing this to happen?
-
Hmm another high price from Harlequin...i bot mine yesterday at Pacific Marine for $5... Think i must really permanently ban them! Anyways, like Kel said earlier, their REVERSE gear swimming is really comical!!! HAHAHAHAH
-
WOW Lucky thing i read much abt Flatworms from all the marine forums and killed them whenever i saw them... Brave thing to attempt Morgan! I salute yr effort even before it has begun...Good thing u have buddies to help out in yr cleanup operation! GOOD LUCK
