NO JOKE)

  4. Zooxanthellae are mainly for photosynthesising, so sps tend to brown out when put in low light situations, because they increase the zoo content in their tissue... Please read these Fuel...most of the articles state that zooxanthellae are brownish as they consist of dinoflagellates... http://www.reefs.org/library/talklog/d_riddle_042698.html ---This one says: "Corals contain pigments that can either block out UV, reflect UV or absorb the UV, and fluoresce the energy into visible portions of the spectrum. It has often been speculated that the colorful Acropora are colored due to the UV protecting pigments in the coral, and aquarists often try to increase the coloration of corals by providing more UV." http://www.animalnetwork.com/fish2/aqfm/19...s/2/default.asp
  5. Erm Zooxanthellea are brown or golden brown in color, its the pigmentation of the corals dat are shining or of striking coloration...
  6. This only goes to show how impressionable and ridiculous our local Top Managers can get...sigh, grow up, singapore....
  7. Putting a sea cucumber into a sandless place is like throwing a human into a desert...it'll starve to death soon The cucumber feeds on the bacteria and detritus in yr sand, and since it is a highly inefficient form of feeding(how much food can u get from small grains of sand?), it tends to sift through our sandbeds non stop to get the nutrition it needs If u really find it irritating, then u should donate the cucumber to someone who needs it, or alternatively, if yr sump has a large surface area and no dangerous powerheads (some cukes climb...), u could dump sand into it and let it move over after the sandbed has been established... Just my thot...
  8. Thanx to all who responded, the fishies have been sold...Gonna miss me Golden Angel...
  9. Second is a Undulate Trigger, ard 3"+, going at $4...This guy is aggresive, so only for tanks with large fish and without small inverts...
  10. Hey guys, i got 2 'outcasts' for sale... First one, a Golden Angelfish, something not sold often, and i managed to get it at $28 at Reborn when they brought in alot of them at one go(abt 3mths ago...) I hate to sell it, but it has irritated quite alot of my SPS, so anyone who can pay me $20 and give it a good home, sms me at 96859334, i stay in Tampines... ---"The Golden Angel, also known as the Aurinatus Angelfish or Velvet Dwarf Angel. This hard to find species is cryptic in nature, making them both difficult to acquire and a prized fish in the hobby. This species is identified by its velvet looking burnt orange/red coloration with thin, broken yellow vertical bars running along each side of the body. The Golden Angel requires a minimum tank size of 50 gallons with plenty of hiding places and live rock for grazing. This angelfish is best kept as the only dwarf angel in a tank. It will adjust rapidly if it is introduced as one of the first fish in a well-established aquarium, or if it is introduced and maintained with very peaceful tankmates. Often maintained by hobbyists in the reef aquarium, caution should be used if there is an abundance of LPS and SPS coral in the tank. This species has been known to nip at these corals as well as Xenia corals. In most cases the fish will not damage these corals, but rather just irritate them."---

  14. Erm AT, do we actually have an official poster design and a car decal design? It seems dat lobangs for the printing abound, so i tink we shld seriously get down into deciding on fixed designs and doing some printing of the posters and decals (u know how things can screw up in the last minute!!!) Btw, i was tinking if we could actually recover our printing costs by actually selling the posters and car decals to the public??? It would also help in spreading of our club's presence in SG...
  15. Wedgee Event Timing / Your Attendance - Full Day or Timing. Trade only: 31 October (Friday) (10.00am-6.00pm) / 1pm - 6pm Public: 2 November (Sunday) (10.00am-7.00pm) / 1pm - 7pm Tear-down: 2 November (Sun) 7.00pm-10.00pm / FULL
  16. I got a friend with a printing firm, specialising in poster and banner prints. He said I needed to give him the sizes we need, as he can do almost all sizes, and can then quote us the prices...If we need to print any, let me know soon, I ask him to gimme better price, heheh
  17. Erm other nitty-gritty stuff i can provide: -chairs (got ard 5 to 6 plastic ones) -step ladder -small delivery trolley Heheh, they may be simple, but we'll need em when we setup or when we man the booths???
  18. I can help to source for the sticker/car decal printing (whoever knows the best market price now, please pm me?) cause I used to do it at Ubi - hope they can give better price if buy in bulk... I got quite alot of annual leave left, so if u want, I can make myself available to help out at the booth (odd-jobs, flyer guy, kay-poh man... )
  19. Dammit SRC had to go down when i posted my sale thread...now the urchin and trigger have been trapped in their cage for a week... Please help me clear off my items thanx!
  20. Me stay in Tampines, am free most of the nights... If wana buy all 3 items, will sell at $80nett... Please support, dont wana keep them in the 'cage' for too long, very cramped...
  21. 2) Undulate Trigger (murderer of my 2 other triggers... Do not keep with docile or small fishes!!!) Price: $4
  22. 3) Bali Urchin (dono wat name, was quoted by Sealife boss, a very unique urchin, if it didnt keep tearing up my macroalgae for its cover, wouldnt bear to sell it...) Price: $8
  23. Hello, wana clear off these ASAP 1) Prism skimmer (bot last december, covered with some coralline spots, working fine except for a chipped off adjusting screw - doesnt affect operation, just need to push the skimmer against the tank wall ) Price: $70
  24. Hows abt this schedule? Since the cycling for yr new 3 ft will take abt 3 weeks to a mth, u can: 1) Do a 20% to 50% water change for yr 2ft (if its a 50% change, do it gradually, dont stress yr critters) 2) Transfer the water siphoned out from the 2ft during the water change into the 3ft, to aid the cycling in the new tank 3) Scoop some of the sand in the 2ft (the top layer) and use it in the 3ft, to let the bacteria living in the sand populate yr new 3ft. Some of the critters living inside will get transferred too. 4) Leave the 3ft about 1/4 empty, so dat when the water inside matures, u can transfer more of the 2ft water into this 3ft tank, and thus let the 2 tank waters become more similar and reduce the stress to yr animals/corals when u finally transfer them over... Just my opinion, hope it helps...
