no problem. Just trying to share but i am new here also. Hence, some advice might not be correct. .. . . so just take it as reference....for fishes....it really depend on the type....but in general...i think 30 and below is ok...31 .....above hit....32....hot bath liao.......lol....hope you dont have to stretch down....u can do a search....some ppl stretch their fishes to stay in around 31...due to no mean to lower the temperature.....hmm...one way to lower your tank temperature if you don have fan or chiller....use ice....go get big bottles and freeze the water till it turn to ice.....then put in your sump....however, ensure no drastic drop or increase....just put yrself in their position, you might not like sudden change..like walking out from airconditioned room to open field under hot sun..... chaeto is like a plant....ppl usually put at the sump in a container and get a light source for it....it will help to reduce your NO level....

sunny03 wanted to buy a rock for his new plan..but...too exp...then he dropped the idea....hehe.... for the farm...best is saturday morning......sunday afternoon.....left nothing much.....lucky you didnt go on monday....maybe cant even enter the shop....wahaha.... so how is your search, hopefully everything is fine and smooth. : ) -
Quarantine does help but prior to that, quality and condition of the fish are equally important. As highlighted by snr reefers, buying those fishes that just touched down will pose high risk but then, you get to choose the best and can only rely on post purchase procedure to increase the chance of survival. Upon purchase, the journey back home and quarantine process plays important part. There are many ways and doubt there is one way that works for all...everyone will experience different ways in acclimatising the fish. Do a search and choose a method which u find is more convincing and confident in carrying out(might be restricted by equipment or setup). If you have gave your best, the only thing left is to pray hard. You never know from the look whether the fish has "terminal" illness or lose its will to live on or got into depression due to stress(lol). Hence, dont take it too hard(personally, gone thr many times.....sighz....) For me, i setup a small QT tank but didnt really have the mean to match my main tank parameter(no chiller, etc). Set a lot of rocks with hiding holes and kept peaceful fishes and inverts(only terror is the banded shrimp and velvet damsel which i cant bear to part...). I will put the fish in the QT and cover the tank. I will also choose a fat and big fish so that it cannot stand hunger and wont be bully by my damsel....observed a few fishes that they will hide for a few days and later, they will pop out and learn from other fishes to mix and learn from other fishes to eat. Some chasing will occur but as long as it is not fierce type, it is fine. If my damsel turns aggressive, i will catch it out and put in a betta box.....it will serve as a warning to other fishes..hopefully....lol... anyway, i am sharing my experience and may not be the correct way. Hence, please just take it as reference....hopefully snr reefers can provide more valuable experience. Dont be dishearted.....for me....i am facing problem keeping clown....except maroon clown....so me just wait for months before making another attempt......For yellow tang, once they pass the acclimatising stage, they will be hardy.... All the best. : )

Hehe....we were there on sunday....but around 1 plus to 2 plus.... : ) -
i believe the sponge u are referring to is wool. It depends on your setup. Media used ......so far seen ppl using the following: Bio -ball or similar, rock, sand, chaeto, mangrove, wool/sponge, carbon(thr bag or FR), PO remover(thr FR).....or just plain....as for effectiveness.....for you to test and tell us....lol....see which one you confident in or ok.... For skimmer size....change your capacity for your tank and check on the skimmer's capability. Over kill setup for skimmer is fine. As mentioned by Bro Morp, the capability will usually state heavy stocked or lightly stocked. Coming back to chiller or fan, also seen FOWL setup with chiller. As long you put in a cool spot with circulation, it should be fine but i will suggest you standby fan for a start...incase the temperature rises and you will be able to bring down.....then later consider buying a chiller....you should get a temperature monitoring device ....just plan your setup to include a chiller. .....think the temperature should not hit above 30 or 31....but it also depend on what fishes you keep, hence do read up..... acclimatised fish can be quite strong also.... fan will speed up the evaporation and thus you need tough up water to maintain the sg level..... this is my opinion, hope senior can correct me so that can learn also. All the best. 6 Ft tank, you got lots of space to play...hehehe

Also got lots of black clown....hehe... -
Bro, i think swift pte ltd at pasir farm still has 2. However, their colour is towards purple rather than red....dont know whether it is unique or colour fade....hehe.. Good luck in your search. : )
-
u must be very discipline to scrap(some super stubborn...hehe) and just becareful of scratches though u are not using any sand, etc. However, have a black background will provide depth and make your fishes look nicer due to contrast under lighting...maybe you DIY one removable background. : ) So you bought you Deltec FR from Reefzzz? All the best. Will wait for your progress update. : )
-
Bro, you using royal gamma to test water huh.....
-
err.....lol.... i THINK power head is more like a pump for those filter, FR, etc.....more concentrated force.....but i think you can use that to create circulation but doubt u will see any fish so strong to swim to the pump(came across my mind but didnt try). For wave maker, as the name implies, to stimulate waves in the ocean.....LR....cheap one....maybe iwarna, T95....or second hand from the forum .... rates depend on your comfort zone.....Coral Farm can sell rock for above $100 that is in nice shape and big piece....check with those decom reefer and ask some free rock from them lor... there are kind soul around.......

one more thing....nothing much left on monday....lol.....anyway...me likely to go there on saturday morning and sunday morning......sunday morning, irwarna should be rather crowded because of the ric shipment. Good to go there morning to feel the chhionging shipment feeling....lol....me go there add the heat....wahaha..... -
Its me again. ....lol....as usual, my opinion but not professional advice. . . lol.... IMO, you still need filtration system to filter bigger particles and let skimmer skim off smaller particles. For the skimmer mentioned, not senior enough to comment but i think you can google to see reviews. Cheaper one, you have to search the market for second hand. But skimmer is one important equipment for marine. If you need advice, maybe you can post yr tank dimension, etc and for senior to comment. For live rock, mixed feeling. If pointed out by some snr, the purpose is to keep those live bacterias to assist you in keeping the water parameter and get it stablise(i learned from my friend that he will cure live rock which mean making it a dead rock cos he dont like the parasite as he is keeping corals which some parasites can topple decorate, disturb or eat the coral). While these parasites can be caught using trap but not everytime it will be succcesful in catching them. But since u are keeping fish only, it should be ok. The smell or decay will help in cycling the water and the skimmer will help to cleanse the water or do water change. Anyway, live rock is easily available with more choices as not many shop will sell treated or dead rock(based on my experience). The cycling process you mentioned seems okay. Based on book, NO will rise and fall to low or zero?, that means yr tank is cycled and can put LS. Usually weeks to months....and some bo chap....wahahaha....wave maker is not necessary but good in aerating the water and minimise certain algae growth on the glass panel and sand bed. It helps to make your tank looks nicer with coral, main LPS, to perform wave effect....and if you are keeping hard coral like SPS, wave maker is important. U keeping fish, so up to you....personally it is good becos a layer of oil or dirt will form on water surface...will surface skimmer or wave, it will help in circulation and remove them...so less stagnant.....also can like fish exercise...but puffer might not like it....puffer ...must be careful...not sure easy to keep or not....hehe.....
