  1. yr skimmer choice of either deltec or bubble king is good and think you won't regret in its performance and also after sales service.
  2. KR is good to stablise yr ph if you are using CR. denitrator helps to lower yr no level...especially if you are a fish lover....for refugium, since yours is a 4ft, possible to include in your sump or a standalone tank which linked to your sump...for T5, you can use artinic and blue pro, etc. For T5 tubes....think ati or Gissemen are widely used....for your lightset to have mh and t5....maybe you can consider infiniti lightset....neat and nice.....
  3. bro, you may want to include kalkwasser reactor, denitrator, some monitoring device such as Ph, etc. For your lighting, you may want to have some T5 to supplement the blue spectrum of your tank....also a refugium is good for your setup. Just my 2 cents worth opinion. Good start for you. Lastly, your return, can consider red dragon pump if you want strong and energy efficient pump.....
  4. hi, if you go pasir ris area, there are 5 marine shops that you visit....if you go clementi area, there are 2. If you go balestier area, there are 2 to 3 shops(reborn, sealife and reef depot if you know how to take public transport....and even GO). Suggest you come on thursday onwards and highlight area of interests...for coral, i think GO, #####, etc are good but price factor is being ignored. For fishes or mixture, LCK, Marine Life, sealife, coral farm, pacific reef, pacific marine, iwarna, etc are recommended. Hope this help. Welcome to singapore.
  5. good to check users' reviews. For deltec and H&S , based on users' review, does not seem to have much problem. Skinz new skimmer is new but based on the construction and using similar technology as deltec, etc, needle wheel pump, performance should be more or less there. I definitely agree on after sales support and services provided. Doubt much repair is needed except for the pump and needle wheel impellor. Unless the workmanship got problem which causes leakage, i dont see many skimmers needed to be sent in for repair. Warranty on the product is one factor to look at but i also think the extra miles that some shops give......
  6. must praise you for that...giving things to ppl and still provide delivery......thumbs up for you bro. : )
  7. bro, dont take it hard, as adult, i think we treat all this as info sharing session. Bro, is yr live stocking high? For nitrate, i think there are 2 types, you may wish to visit the algae scrubber thread to understand more. 50 still ok....unless you are going into demanding coral, personally i think still ok if you are doing weekly water change. Maybe you can consider buying second hand, MCE600 is a good choice for hang on. if you got budget constraint, look for second hand skimmer. For kalkwasser, manual dose is one method. Dosing pump is system assist. For sg level, think it is within the safe level. You can search through the net or read up to understand SG level. For fishes, they can tolerate low level but must do it slowly...for corals, come cannot tolerate low SG level......this is my limited knowledge, do read up or ask around, snr here will help. : )
  8. if you are talking about buying new....i think H&S will be costly, follow by deltec mce600 and then skimz(depending on the model). mce600 is hang on type and different from H&S or Skimz which take up more space. I think H&S and Skimz have model for both in and out sump and with or without need of feed pump. So, if you got budget, you need to seriously consider factors mentioned. If budget not an issue, everything will be resolved.
  9. depending on wat he wants to keep...had seen reefers using that for 3ft set with sump...power consumption for all should be marginal...for maintenance purpose, maybe H&S and Skimz will have upper hand due to the pump is external. .....nevertheless, if you are going brand new, i think there are like class differences....
  10. for its size, i think one for the best. For hang on, i think deltec mce600 is the best....lol
  11. just to add, not sure whether now pl tube got artinic, if yes, you may want to choose that cos it will bring out those luminuous colour....nevertheless, do ask the shop owner for recommendation. : )
  12. hi bro, for FOWLR, in my opinion is no need but you do want to see your fishes and maybe boost the coraline algae....hence it will be good to put some light. For lighting, you can looking out for those marine bulbs and choose those bulbs that will enhance your fishes' colour...blue is one of the colour....just my opinion
  13. bro, maybe you want to increase yr sg to 1.024 to 1.025. Some of the specification may seem overstated or gone through certain test condition to produce that claim. Nevertheless, for prism, there are ppl using it for 2 to 3 ft setup. If your system is up for months and no clash due to current stock, it is doing its work....hehehe.....just to check the heavily stocked level vs lightly stocked level...for other reputable skimmers, they will state the differences between both stocked level to guide users. Just my personal opinion. : )
  14. depends....but many snr reefers are not using them as their tanks have matured with enough bacterias to act as FR....in my opinion, for new tank and non matured tank, it is necessary....
  15. welcome bro. It will be good to advice what do you intend to keep...fish only or coral only or both fish and coral and what type of coral. : )
  16. wow bro thomas, finally you broke your masterpiece....hehe...if still left some small frag, will like to try it....hehe. Thanks.
  17. bro, a 2ft cube is 2X2X2. Think it is much bigger than your current setup. Anyway, just do your planning well.
  18. bro, for coraline algae, it need cal, mg and sufficient lighting.....it beautify the rocks but when it overgrown...it might be a pain to remove them.....lol
  19. bro, you can boost the rock with cal and mg to let them entrusted with coraline algae...then it will be nice. If your tank just got artificial rock with no sand, the rock structure may be too light....liverock does have it benefit....even if you use artificial rock, you will still see dust and debris and you still need to siphon out the waste or get wave maker to help you do the job. Ya, me more into fishes.....currently using mixed live and artificial and you need to create opening for them to swim and roam around. I suggest you keep some hardy coral like mushroom.....it will bring out live in your tank and your fishes will also like it....hehehe.
  20. bro, for easy maintenance, no sand is fine. Why no live rocks? I will suggest for fish only, you can setup FOWLR tank....meaning FISH ONLY WITH LIVE ROCK. Yes, you do need cave or crevices for fishes to hide so as to destress them. However, do plan your fish list and sequence in introducing into your tank. From most gentle to most agressive. Damsel is a no no .....lol ....as it is very welcome for newbie in marine. Hope my limited knowledge help. : )
  21. bro yongshun, do plan your equipment list. As mentioned by you, yr current setup may not be able to support a 3ft. Anyway, if you planning, you can consider my 2 ft cube if you are on budget as i am likely to transfer my livestock to another tank. Do check around pricing as premium pricing can easily be couple of hundreds more as compared to those acceptable tank maker. If you dont need much planning, then may not need to go to those pricey maker.
  22. that is fast....lol...thought want to get loose frag from you....wahahaha.
  23. bro, are you looking for reputable brands like eheim, etc. If not, i do have 2 for sales. One is jebao and the other is a taiwan made canister sold in OTC at pasir ris. The jebao should be 2 years but usage less than that. For the later one, less than a year. Jebao should be able to support 3 ft. The other one i bought to support my 2 feet(600 to 900L). If you interested, can pm me to discuss on price as it is priced to sell. Anyway, all the best for your search. : )
  24. no problem bro. We are here to learn and share. : ). Thanks for the sharing.
