think the type of pipe doesn't really matter much as long as it is suitable for marine use. For GF, i tihnk their check valve is good and if you choose to use them, you may have to stick to them on certain piping. The only thing to take note is the diameter of your return to your sump. The bigger it is, the more flexibility you have to use higher powered pump. If too big, can always use reducer to compensate. Hence, bigger is better than smaller. just my 2 cents worth opinion and open to correction.

think GF piping is not a must....unless you are one that appreciate their quality finishing and has a deep pocket.

i think not all things are expensive at CF. Regulars to CF will know what are those livestocks selling cheaper outside. their price is rather fixed thr. out the year whereas some lfs will chge their pricing. Anyway, updates for them, gobies, wrasses and anthias in the hse....power brown, blue and hybrid tangs also. Still got panda gobies there but rather small. T95 - powder blue tang, angels - got one regal yellow belly angel, lots of maroon clown, six line wrasse, blue hippo tang, etc. All the best.
