Hi Bro, Is there any budget? Maybe you can check with the shop where you bought the tank. If not, really must get experience from reefers here. Nevertheless, you may wish to buy a chiller that is slightly overkill. Reason being it will definitely cool your tank faster, hence may contribute to saving electricity. Also, it may allow future upgrade of tank. For the pump, it will tie to the chiller. The specification of the chiller will state the recommended flow rate. Too fast not effective and too slow no efficient. Also, just make sure the return does not create turbulent in your tank. All the best.

I certainly hope i can help you but beware of my advice as i am a newbie. Hehe. Think it is good to meet up senior reefers to understand more from them. However, as a married man....time is not within my control....wahahaha....Nevertheless, i will usually cycle to pasir ris farm on sunday or saturday morning, say around 8 am. Hi Bro, Welcome on board. 2 ways to see things. Agrees that it is good if you have the budget to spend on high end equipment initially rather than upgrade in future. However, the other side is, if the interest is short - span, money always wasted. Lol. Since you have a budget, do lookout for second-hand setup. Think there are a number of sellers trying to sell off 2ft tank with setup. Please note the thickness and dimension of the tank. The thicker, the better...lol....dimension will depend on your space - 2ft by 2ft by 2ft is good. Other than that, it might have space constraint and lack of depth. Also look out for canister or sump filter setup(sump filter better). Then look for lighting, skimmer, chiller(if you intend to keep corals), test kit - parameters such as pH, NO, PO, SG, etc. Big tank is more stable as compared to small tank but if you are hardworking, no problem. hehe. The other option is go for nano tank setup. All in one small tank, except for the chiller. One popular tank is the Red Sea Max but there are always positive vs negative feedback. In a nutshell, you have to decide the following: Keep Fish only or Mixed Tank Size Decoration - Rock and sand or just rock(types also) Filter System - sump, canister, bio, etc Skimmer - Type Lighting Test Kit Chiller? Power Points Cabinet FR - PO or Carbon, UV, Ozoniser - Good to have Accessories.. Food Shopping for fishes and coral.... err...based on my experience....may have omitted some.....just went through....lol....sometime it is good to find someone to talk rather than reading ...just cant seem to get into brain or understand them...wahahaha....where do you stay....maybe can help you and invite to go fish farm shopping....lol...then u will understand more....hehe

Dear reefers, Had a thought to create a directory to gather all reefers in Northeast or east area. As i am a newbie, not sure if there is an existing directory, if yes, please enlighten me. With this directory, hope it can help fellow reefer who is in trouble due to faulty equipment to temporarily seek help from nearby reefers or temporarily seek FOC "hotel" to house their LS. Of course, there are many helpful reefers who are not staying nearby but willing to help also but there is a chinese saying "Far Water Cannot Put Off Near Fire".....lol.... Just my funny idea. Forgot to add...adding new fish....there are also recommended ways to prevent bringing exiting diseases from the fish u bought to your tank.....read thr the forum. One method is fresh water dip.....but at your own risk....hehe....also...the water that comes with the fish, some will advice not to pour into the main tank....as the water might contain copper when fish shop treated the fish......

Hi, There are a lot of factors that might contribute the death of the fishes, hence there is no hard and fuss rules. Water change will not help if the fishes died because of "poison", stress, etc. However, if the reason is due to poor water quality, it will definitely help. No harm changing water. To kill off the parasites, UV, ozoniser, etc will help but will not eliminate them 100%. There are many ways to enhance water...dosing addictive to encourage good bacterias growth, frequent change of water, dont over stock, dont overfeed, using bio mean, using LR or plant to reduce NO, have a good skimmer, using UV/ozoniser, etc. Think has to try and find the proper method. Personally, i also faced a problem of keeping clown fish, except maroon clown(super hardy for me). But keeping maroon clown means i will not be able to keep other clowns...hence still thinking. Went round checking but cannot get definite answer why clown cannot survive in my tank. Hence, i think it is the so called new tank sydrome. I "THINK" recycled tank or water doesnt mean it will prevent fatality. Only matured tank will increase the level of survivial. For matured tank, i am trying now...hehe... IMO, you may wish to change water and leave it alone for at least a month before adding new life. You can add inverts to make your kids happy...hehe...like blue leg hermit, cleaner shrimp, etc. They are quite fun to look at. Warning, dont buy boxer shrimp....lol.... Marine is a life long learning journey....hehe.....all the best and keep us posted...
