  1. Err....any method to try fishes to eat seaweed?
  2. Thanks for the advice. I mixed cyclopleeze(dry) with frozen cube mysis and brine and mixed with vitamin and garlic guard. Feed them morning and night. Also feed them mixed pellet - spectrum, formula 2 and another brand from AM. Also feed them flake cyclopleeze. This will be their weekday diet. For weekend, i will give them live brine shrimp or mysis(red colour one...always confused....wahahaha). For seaweed, they dont like or dont eat. So i will buy red bamboo for them. My flame angel only eat pellet.....so everyday got to feed a variety to suit different fishes in my tank....purple goby got different orgin? maybe like royal gamma - braz. is not as attractive as carib. one. Anyway...seeing the fishes swimming happily....one will feel happy also. Me also will be upgrading from 2 ft cube to 3 ft once i get my new flat....may need your advice on the scaping...hehe
  3. Bro, if you adding yr yellow wrasse....i will confirm take it. Thanks.
  4. Hi Bro, Welcome. For the tank, you may want to see the sell forum. Someone selling the RedSea Max Tank, worth considering as it is everything in one except for chiller. If you only want to keep fish only, dont really need a chiller but must ensure temperature dont hit above 30/31.. For the tank mentioned, it seems to be a freshwater setup. For marine setup, a skimmer is required. So if you acquire the tank, you need to explore those hang on skimmer or those house in the tank(take up space...) For sand......think collection should be fine...be tactical...but beware wait coast guard mistaken you as selamat...hehe....anyway...u better find a place to collect your sand...most sand on the beach are very dirty....even i recycle those reefer's sand, i got hard time washing them.... Liverock....look at the forum....kind soul will like to give but will snatch up fast. However, usually, they are small. To have one that can do up nice scape....either search and buy or pray for kind soul to give...hehe....look for those decom.... Livestock....clown fishes,.....there are quite a few....so you must do your selection.....but bear in mind....maroon clown is fierce...once u choose them....unlikely you can keep other clown.....false per is common and cheap...maybe can start with this to test water.....true per & black ocellaris are expensive.....clarki clown...tomato clown(find them fierce also)...shunk clown,...saddle back clown....etc. Go search the net to see all the different clown and study their characteristic before deciding....clown is compatible to most marine fishes....just make sure you dont buy small clown and get those big meat eater like lionfish...they might eat your clown... water - aged water and saltmix....think most will start up with this. However, u will need to let your tank run for weeks to complete its cycle. If not, by adding livestock, the livestock is unlikely to survive. tap water might promote algae growth(even though aged). You need to have equipment to test the SG level. Top-up....is required to managed SG level and water replacement is encouraged on weekly for basis 5 to 10%(estimation). Frequency can drop if your tank matures. However, if you are hardworking to do water parameter check, you may not need to change water if they are good. The above is based on my knowledge which may be wrong.....so take it with discount and wait for senior reefer to advice before commiting. All the best and there are helpful reefers ard to assist. Oh, there are also shops selling full setup ...1 to 1.5 nano tank and price is around $500 plus. You may consider that as it will include everything - rock, coral, fishes, tank, etc except chiller..... Where you stay...maybe can tag along with brother to farm or shop to see see look look to understand more...seeing is believing...hehehe...
  5. Nice setup. Can see that you must have lots of patience in the setup. Ya, purple goby is shy. Mine also hiding and will surface in the morning to eat. Always compared mine with those selling in the shop....somehow i feel those in the shop are more purple....maybe mine eat untill too fat and the colour has been diluted.....any advice to maintain their colour? Thanks.
  6. You got any inverts like banded shrimp....they will help u to keep the fresh....not sure whether bristleworm will behave like earthworm ...chop them into half and they can recover and survive.... You have skimmer right....just monitor and clean your skimmer ..... likely to have skimate due to the water.....so you changed the water and removed the corpse right. Then should be ok. Hope everything is fine. Luckly u didnt listen to my advice to kill those live rock...hehe....thousand apologies from me....
  7. Used one when i bought my tank from bro anthony. I would say they are pro and good. If things are clearing spelled out, the quote is rather accurate. : )
  8. Bro, while hoping you can get a good deal, i also hope you will get from reliable seller. Do consider the risk involved in getting one with hidden problem and you may end up sending more money and time wasted. 1/2 or 1 hpseems to be ok for your setup. However, do get review as some spec cannot be trusted 100%. For europe pdt, should be able to trust as they are precise or tends to over cater. For china-made, something i will doubt their claims. Also, check on the power consumption. No point getting cheap but end up paying more in long run operating cost. If after buying, dont use it, it seems to defeat the purpose in getting. Just my 2 cents worth of opinion. Best wishes in your search. : )
  9. Thanks. Pardon me, hence using replica rock does pose a danger. I am using partial replica rock from GO for my setup. hmmm....maybe have to consider changing them to liverock....hehe Personal experience on live rock, got a rock with zoas on it but the zoas were dying off slowly....got a friend advice to hack off the rock and separate those good one from bad one.......managed to hack them apart....the internal part of the rock was rotten and soft(the rock looked solid from outside). After got separated, the zoas are doing well. Thanks for taking the time and effort to share. : ) Thanks for sa
  10. Think sometime, things are hard to explain. Alot of things are beyond our control, so we can only try our very best to control and improve on things which we can do. For me, i got problem keeping true per....very sad.....as i love the paired true per and blk ocellaris(except maroon clown is fine). All the time, they dont do well. Hence, now stop trying as alot of ppl told me is new tank sickness where most ppl cannot give me a definite answer to my problem. They say clown is hardy but to me...it is not...wahahaha...nevertheless, i got a maroon pair in my quarantine tank but dont dare to put into my main tank cos once in....dont think i can keep any other clown....think back...i am a nemesis to true per and ocellaris....wahahahaha...and a clown.... hopefully i can fulfill my dream to keep a pair of true per and blk ocellaris. Hehe.
  11. Basketball....where is the venue....lol...me play basketball....looking for venue....hehe
  12. Hi Bro, welcome to singapore. Maybe you can refer to the sponsors. I think most of them do provide complete setup. If you have specific equipment to look out for, for example, deltec, you will need to go to the agent, say Reef Depot. For sophisticated setup with full controllable system, maybe you can try reef depot and aqua marin. Marine Life, Iwarna, etc, think they also help in setting up. All the best.
  13. Thanks for the info exchange. I think through all these exchanges, we learn. Heard from some seniors that they do regret no treating their live rock because when everything is in the tank and subsequently, they found "crab" etc, it will be a disaster. If those parasite is stupid enough, they will be caught by the trap setup but most of the time, they are rather wise(maybe with a PhD...lol). Anyway, based on past threads, it is a mixed opinion. Some prefers to treat and cultivate the rocks while others prefer just live rocks. Think it is another issue as to using new sea water vs using salt mixed water. Keep the discussion coming so that newbies can learn and know what they prefer. Thanks again. : )
  14. Upz for your sales. Was eyeing on your pinpt wireless temperature monitor but think good stuff always sell fast...hehe. All the best.
  15. slowly lar.....lol....upz for your sale. A neat and nice tank.
  16. Ok. Lesson time, certainly hope experienced reefers can share their experiences. Had searched through the forum and the topic was raised in the past with mixed opinions. Think no right or wrong but individual preference. For newbie like me, before i start this hobby, in layman term, a rock is just a "stone" for decoration. Only after i came into this hobby, i find that there are alot to learn. Basically everything - lighting, filter, etc. So for the benefit of newbies reading through the forum, hoping to gather some info, hope this topic can expand and help. For rocks, to my knowledge, there are artificial one(those from golden octopus-shop), dead rock and live rock. 1. For artificial - Unlikely to have parasite(notwithstanding the fact that cockcroaches might lay their eggs on them if not properly stored, etc...hehe) - Good Shapes - Hard to cultivate bacteria on them? - Need advice. From what i know, coraline algae can still form on them, hence possible to cultivate good algae? - Price... - Light 2. Dead Rock - Unlikely to have parasite if fully cured - Go thr major freshwater dip, iodine dip and under the sun(heat treatment) - Need to cultivate bacteria? - How, is it by dosing those addictive? Previous comment is using freshwater dip might cause harmful algae problem, spike in ammonia level, etc. - Commando Parasite might resurrect - Price ?? 3. Live Rock - Lightly to have parasite - crab, worms, etc. Method to overcome - set trap. Effectiveness depends on how big the tank, how clever the parasite, type of setup - fish vs reef or combination of both. - Good and bad bacterias - Price depends Hope senior reefers can add-on and elaborate on the points and provide experiences - treating of liverock or no treatment at all. Hope i am not violating any rules and regulation, if yes, please pardon me and delete my post. Thanks.
  17. Think it might have dried up by then. Thus might not harm the fish(maybe too early to comment....lol). Wonder how the fish is going to digest that....do mark the fish and keep it till it report heaven. Then do autopsy on the fish. Lol.....keep us posted. used the super glue gel and my cleaner shrimps were so happy thinking got food, gathered around the glued rock....and i was so scare and start using a long stick to scare them away.....
  18. To Bro Silverdollar, hope my wrong advice didnt give you much inconvenience.
  19. Opss... think i might have given you wrong advice. sorry for that. Think follow senior advice will be better. It will be good to confirm your source when buying live rocks. This will avoid such incident. However, imo, not easy to confirm 100% cured rocks.
  20. you worried the sand might be contaminated? Unlikely cos those parasites usually hide inside the rock. Nevertheless, it depends on you. If your tank is small and you are hardworking, then bring out and to rinse it. If there are live stocks, you might not consider a major wash as it will stress and sudden change in water parameter might kill them. Think there is always risk involved, the amount will depend on you, whether you willing to take the risk or be safe than sorry..... hope my advice will help but it might not be the correct way as i am learning and newbie 2. If you can wait, maybe wait for the senior reefers to provide advice. : )
  21. ya, also treat yr rocks before putting into your tank....if not...disaster will occur if it is housing many parasites.....if those so called cured, treated rocks may have unknown and illegal tenants.....best wishes for you
  22. Change the water. Take out the rock and remove the decay coral(brush or use water spray head) and soak in fresh water for few days(change water daily as the water is likely to stink). You may stop once the water is no longer giving off foul smell. It will kill off the "parasites". Want more effective elimination, please it under hot sun......hehe...but with all this method, ..yr live rock will become death rock....... If you still want the rock to be alive, shortenthe fresh water dip and put back in saltwater. Or you can use coral dip method, using freahwater, iodine and put it back in a separate saltwater to cleanse the rock. .... this will be what i will do... other senior reefers might have better method.....
