reducing the current from Return pump
Solo77 replied to pweesng's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Face your return to one side of the glass, use rocks to diffuse the flow or drill holes at the return..help to reduce the flow and also act as a safety feature to prevent back flow. Take it as reference and need confirmation from more snr reefers. -

LEDs for SPS dominated reef setups
Solo77 replied to Joe_P's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
agrees that the spread for LED is not there, hence it is compensated by the multiple row. LED according to specification can last long but subject to QC(same for MH, T5, etc). The driver driving the LED is one thing to take note. Support for LED is still a question as i did posted. Replacement, lead time, etc. It is not like T5 or MH where one can easily source the supply and do simple replacement. For LED, some replacement cannot be done individual but in entire board. Parts may not be readily available and seems like it is evolving and yet to stablise to achieve certain standard. Nevertheless, one cannot deny more that in times to come, LED will be the technology(judging from the tread). Therefore, the question is whether you want to get something which may get obsolete fast. Being a pioneer in product life cycle isnt cheap. Personally, i am impressed by Aqua Lumen, the colour temperature dial is one superb feature which MH and T5 cannot achieve. I may be having wrong perception as i am not experienced or exposed enough in LED technology. For those specialised in DIYing, has been following but everytime got lost......haha. Certainly hope more bros can share and show their results. -

i suggest you release your blackie first. Let them settle down first and find themselve a home. Then release your tomato and RBTA away from them. However, for your RBTA, sad to say, they move and will settle down at their ideal spot. Any change in lighting or current will likely to make them shift again. Tomato is considered more agressive, similar to maroon. I have not kept a tomato clown(but see them in action) but for maroon clown, i find that they like to swim low. For my blackie and true pers, they tend to swim mid to high. However, when i got 3 pairs together, the blackie is the one going round disturbing others. My blackie when saw my maroon, will attempt(acting) to challenge them but later swim off. The maroon clown just hold their ground. I got 3 true pers, 2 being smaller size and were of no threat to them were being ignored. The big one was being chased after and later sold off. I also wont risk blackie as i find them very nice. If only can keep one, i vote will go to blackie. Keep us posted.

Might have the following to let go; 1. Hailea 500c chiller(1/2hp). Got from Bro Weapon Master as spare but now repairing my other chiller. If the other chiller is repaired, will let go the hailea - $200. Usage is 2 years i think. Physical condition is good. 2. Sander C50 - $100 3. got 4 cyclinders. So might be letting go 2 cyclinders. if you are interested, can arrange to view and discuss. Interested, please pm me. Thanks.

Hi bro, there is a proper way to setup O3. Apart from using a pump to pump air through sillicon gel(dry the air) and to your skimmer, you will need to place carbon at few area to minimise health risk. Dosage depends on your tank size and skimmer's capability. One way to check is to use redox meter. Setting should be 400 to 420 zone. A enhanced system will allow the redox controller to control the Ozoniser and denitrator. Happy reading.

title should be 2 cans of OSW. Lol. Upz for you.

ppl have tried mixing AT and sohal. However, both are aggressive. Given a choice, AT should be added first and be very stable before adding a sohal. Reason being AT is ich and white spot magnet. U wont want the sohal to stree your AT when being introduced which makes them vulnerable. Just personal comment. All the best.

Dear Newbies, Welcome to reefkeeping hobby. For a start, it is definitely an exciting journey to kick start from the forum where it is a good place to gain and share knowledge. Apart from this, it is also a good place where one can acquire things such as livestock and equipment. In the buy/sell forum, it is a free market where seller and buyer come to an agreement to transact. There are usually 2 modes to such activities, one is where seller states the selling price and up to buyer to negotiate and the other is bidding system where seller usually state a minimum asking price, every increment bid sum, closing date and time and maybe a price where no bidding is required further if buyer willing to buy at the preferred selling price by the seller. As a newbies, i caution you to read and know your stuff before fallen as a prey. Like all other forum, bidding system at times isn't fair like open market and can be manipulated by group of friends. Take for example, an item put up for sales at low price to attract bidding. As the bidding gets hot, one may be overwhelmed by ego factor and that is the time where one may be fallen as prey. Friends will help push the price up and if you are not aware, you will end up paying more than what the market is asking. If the price is not meet, friend can just bid high and be awarded and the item will still be at the seller side. However, not all biddings are unfair. Lastly, if one got the money to spend, why bothers. : ) Life is short and reef hard. I may be perceived as KPO. Please ignore this advice if you think this is undue worry, foolish and maybe childish. Lol. Enjoys.
