Ok, I'll work on that Hope to see you soon Anyway, I almost crashed my CR today when I tuned it up before going to school. Then when I came back, my CR was bubbling like a skimmer Luckily I came back in time to turn it off or else All thanks to the recirculation feature or I think it will explode Funny thing is that my SPS look more colourful despite the accident. Water looks clearer too Now considering a pH monitor connected to a solenoid and changing my cheapo regulator to a dual guage with needle valve Man, I am so broke

Tineng: Yeah it was quite red too in his tank. Not the normal orange digitata Ciaolong: Yes I had received your PM. I'll be good if you tell me more about your preference

If you are talking about SPS and softies, yes, all white specimens are bleached. This is because the zooxathellae in their tissue are brown so the most basic colour you get is brown. There are no such thing as white corals in nature Good to hear that you get the message. Hope you reef responsibly

That green one which you epoxied all over? Thoght you wanted to aquascape using those montis -
Think you should get rid of those valonia soon before they spread As for the base of the mille, it is quite big so you might want to try fragging it off but no guarantees on that Phoenix no good? Think again BTW, I propose on Saturday afternoon. What say you guys? And remember to bring the box and pliers . Frags too if you have Then we go LFS buy back some brownies and watch they colour up

For caulerpa, you can find it almost anywhere but shops do not bring in chaetomorpha so you can oly get them from reefers And just a point to note that caulerpa is one of the most toxic macroalgae and the toxin it produces is said to retard coral growth Furthermore, caulerpa can crash when it goes vegetative and releases all absorbed nutrients back into the system and cause a MAJOR tank crash -
The reason why I said you were irresponsible is that by buying bleached specimens, you generate a demand for them and also actually encourage store owners to purposely bleach corals and selling them as "whte" specimens. When it is bleached (almost toally in your case), it does not have zooxathellae in its tissues and cannot benefit from the byproducts of photosynthesis by them. Unless it accepts food from you, death is inevitable Hope you don't take offence on my comment but I am only trying to tell you not to make this mistake again. I am only acting on part of SRC's purpose to promote responsible reefkeeping so I really hope you do learn something Anyway, I like your scaping

Triggers can really be interesting fishes My niger will try balancing grains of sand on its head

Caulerpa would do well with eggcrates For chaeto, it's best to have the whole bunch tumbling all over -
No offence but you are being irresponsible by buying a bleached coral. Corals must not be bought judging from its looks but by its health What is the point of spending money buying something which will perish in a couple of weeks? SRC is to promote responsible reefkeeping so I hope you learn from this lesson and not make the same mistake again

My fuge only has chaeto in it for nutrient export. Whether macroalgae needs a sandbed or not depends on the type of macroalgae you are using. Red bamboo IMO do not grow fast enough for efficient nutrient intake -

The term "refugium" is actually to describe a place where there are no predators unlike the main system. If you are talking about sumps, there are many designs and each serve its own function. We have macroalgae, DSB, equipment, water reservoir to name a few. -
Not only recover from shock and tissue necrosis, you have to nurse it to health by feeding it so that it hopfully might regain it's zooxathellae population. Didn't you notice that it was bleached when you bought it?

Actually that's not quite true as the whole purpose of cycling is to ensure a steady population of bacteria which nitrify and denitrify. If your cycle is complete, the bacterial population would have reached maximum and whatever ammonia enters will be taken out. I've seen reef tanks with well over 50 fishes and the owner can still maintain ANN at undetectable levels. Do not underestimate the power of those tiny bacteria!!!

My fuge is a 3.5ft tank with dual lane racecourse design Basically it acts as my macroalgae growout and frag tank DSBs are great if you know how to maintain them I'll go back to a DSB once I find the time to start my culture of infauna again -

Doubt you can get chaeto in shops Get them from reefers who have
