  1. Another shot Still acclimatizing in my growout with a drip rate of 1 drop per 3 seconds
  2. Unless you like bro Riodan last time who had a sump the size of the main tank
  3. The K value is just a measure of its colour Its the intensity that counts
  4. Ya know those foreign reefers have 1000w MHs for their tanks!!!!
  5. Here you go: http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...topic=21734&hl=
  6. http://www.melevsreef.com/allmysumps.html
  7. FYI shrimps are one of the most difficult to acclimatize animals
  8. Problem with Singaporean reefers using DSB is due to the fact that most of us lack infauna and our LFS do not have recharge kits for us (currently culturing my own). Without these guys, our nitrates will just accumulate and render the sandbed useless. Furthermore, improperly set up DSBs will create a whole mass of anaerobic zone and black patches of hydrogen sulphide will start to appear. But back to the topic, using LR solely for biological filtration is not enough.
  9. IMO yes. Especially when you let detritus settle on it and have too little infauna.
  10. First one looks like a big lobo and the other one should be a favia
  11. I was also thinking about this for some time already. How about connecting a recirculating pump to the box (of course pump must be of lower flowrate than main feed pump) and adding a dedicated injector for the recirculated water. But for this to happen, you need a skimmer with big diameter body and must be tall and you will need pumps with big electricity usage
  12. Wah another bro got the power horse Too bad santa didn't deliver that to me yesterday
  13. Its just a black tang with a white tail
  14. You can just frag all of 'em out Take out the rock, turn it upside down, cut a single snap closest to the disk and leave the bases on the rock Place the frags in a low current place and add some coral chips or chunks of LR (I use those that I chip off from corals) and allow them to heal and attach which takes about a month
  15. well if it moves then its a flatworm (btw the orange guy at the bottom looks cool)
  16. I personally prefer using a sandbed to add surface area for the bacteria to colonise The reason why people use liverocks is that they contain the bacteria strains that is required, and the sandbed provides them with a place to colonise and the depth creates the anoxic zone which reduces nitrates to nitrogen bubbles.
