  1. Haha good ol' Anthony Hope he will stand beside mine next time
  2. Hi guys, just wondering why is there so many beginners giving up this hobby with reasons like they have no time to maintain, LS keep dying, algae problems and hobby getting too expensive? I thought that those who want to start should first plan carefully and even if they don't they should be able to get help here. Since SRC is to educate beginners on this hobby, how come this is still happening? Are the beginners not learning enough here? Pls give constructive comments and I will close this thread if anybody throws insults, no matter direct or indirect
  3. Yeah nearly a hundred Anyway need some inputs on a decision I had to make Should I go on a Chiang Mai trip or should I use the cash for my monster skimmer?
  4. If you guys are wondering how Underwater World do their maintainence, they have a Reef Ambassador programme which lets students to work there for some days. Talk about win win situations
  5. I've seen the RE ones but not the Deltecs Don't tell me they have 8 needlewheels
  6. Maybe I am = Also thought they were supposed to be brown Or is it that they have exhausted?
  7. They just need to deploy a few RK2
  8. Yeah I am also very interested to know more. How is it working for you scarab?
  9. I noticed my rowas are actually grey Anyway, will start my AA dosing soon once I get my hands on them
  10. Hmm....I always had an impression that skimmers work better with smaller bubbles at the top rather than big bubbles. Maybe it's time I update myself And are you going to use RO/DI?
  11. Agree with Alfa on the needlewheels. Would have gotten one for myself if I can afford them. Think probably dual needlewheels would already be enough to suck up DOC in your tank
  12. I am rather worried that the reducer might not be able to withstand the high pressured water from the Beckett. What you guys think?
  13. Haha not replying to anyone la. Just a thought that came up in my head
  14. Might help but if you imagine the bubbles travelling up so high plus the distace covered by the swirling, won't they become huge at the top? That isn't what we want right?
  15. Care to share what are the brands you have tested Dan?
  16. Actually I rather dislike the huge bubbles that form at the top pf high becketts as they only result in mud sticking to the sides of the neck and not removed in any type of foam. And if a skimmer can't remove any visible, overflowing foam, then I do not see it as a good skimmer As for the dual FR, I think Ian has something like that Still awaiting for your new tank to be up. Do give me a beeb if you need help ya? I'll try to help in anyway I can
  17. Well, anything can happen during a 6 month break Who knows, I might even open a farm for market gardening of chaeto Anyway, I sometimes wonder why we have farms since they don't really grow anything. To me, LFFs are just overblown retail shops
  18. But if the coral comes in good condition, and reefers here are good and dedicated, all these problems might not appear That's why we have SRC in the first place right?
  19. Haha so come back the fault still lies in the reefer himself It's a pity we lack large aquaculture facilities here
  20. We can always do it like the Japanese but I doubt many would want to have half of their tank in another colour
  21. You mean skimmate? This is from zeovit forum Compare that to a Beckett
  22. Too bad our tanks are not like a few metres deep or else we can have the perfect spectrum for the various SPS So how do we know which species of SPS have this strain of zoox?
  23. ....we can only lower it I have also known of some shops which blatantly bring in illegal corals for sale. I tried to persuade them to stop but (probably think I am a small beginner kid) they said that it was the only way to get cheap stocks and would never consider getting the CITIES cert. Geesh
  24. That's why I wonder whether the essence of the BK can be captured Other than the titanium needlewheel, how about other factors could have given the BK such exceptional results?
