  1. Saw that green one in person Really nice frag Anyway, you can also use the mesoscope to spot bugs on your acros Sorry Vincent, use your thread to tell you all these mesoscope stuff
  2. Yep, I've seen people talking photos with the mesoscope It does not come cheap though, around 200+ pound
  3. Yeah unless you are willing to invest a hell lot more into maintaing a nano SPS reef, try softies first Once you start SPS, there's no turning back (you'll get addicted, trust me )
  4. Haha by the time I have probably fragged it into 3rd generation liao
  5. I also have stag frags if your water parameters permit like weileong said And not to forget, tell us the water movement in your tank
  6. Talk about fast Mine had grown from fist size to palm size in a month
  7. Mine seems to stretch out throughout the day Maybe it's stimulated by my high ORP and iodine dosage
  8. Save some cash and get yourself a mesoscope to see the polyps You can even spot transparent flatworms with those
  9. Haha my opinion is the first post Yeah in a sense, I think the current algal growth in my tank is fine In fact, I do hope it'll continue to grow (which it doesn't) To deviate a bit (pardon me), algae do not grow suddenly in my reef. It is when I removed my sandbed that the large amount of detritus caused a massive bloom which had ceased growth now. And added that I do not have a clean up crew except for some tangs, the algae wouldn't go away Ok, back to the topic, I do know of some SPS reefers who deliberately grow turf algae in their main tanks solely for nutritional purposes. And I do believe, as I have mentoned in my first post, that algae is a great source of energy for the reef, not only for the herbivores but all the way down to the saprophytic organisms
  10. Well those algae have stopped growing already Now I am looking for stuff that will help me clear them Luckily it's not those hair algae or bryopsis And I would also love to hear from people who think that we should not let algae set foot in our tank. It's a discussion right? No taking of sides here In Anthony Calfo's book, he mentioned that small patches of cyano is considered a norm but he also put it in a comical way such that we should not have so much that it can eat reefs and the family dog too!!
  11. Good to hear people having success with vegetable filters I also have good results with macroalgae I would also love to hear with those who are growing caulerpa and those with algae in their systems, be it in a refugium or un the main tank
  12. But what about microalgae that grows on rocks and walls? And bro hamann, I'm quite satisfied with my undetectable phosphate levels using titration testkits. I feel it's good to have some PO4 in your water too
  13. Ok, I have undetectable ANN and phosphate all tested using salifert testkits Vincent, thanks for your views but I thought corals need a certain level of nutrients to grow. As long as we do not go beyond that threshold, it would be ok. And neither should we go under the threshold
  14. Nice!! I actually saw some of these in one of the Pasir Ris farms
  15. Thanks Jim I have already spot checked for flatworms and nudis All frags are cleared (unless it's those transparent ones ) Will do a dip in Lugol's tomorrow after they have destressed as potassium iodide is quite an oxidant and might stress them even more For those who still do not know how it should look like, here's the mother colony
  16. If it is illegal, you have commited a criminal offence Worse still if you have posted in many other forums as well Let me warn you that the boys in blue will not take this lightly and this is not a joke
  17. But why give it such a name? Any meaning?
  18. I think it's illegal Mods should review this thread
  19. Its a dialysis machine for tanks
  20. Yeah its cool right? Coralline grows like crazy in my tank
  21. If no one has frags for trade by tonight then I'll sell them at $10 per frag
