  1. It is a simple piece of equipment whereby media (usually carbon or phosphate remover) is placed inside and water is allowed to pass through it so that the media is kept in suspension. This increases the surface area where the media reacts with the water and thus improving the media's efficiency
  2. Yes SPS have flatworms too In fact, AT's tank almost crashed because of flatworms (sorry to bring this up bro) I heard wrasses are good at eating them
  3. Basically, it is all in the cost For beginners who start off with FOWLRs, they usually have a small budget With that, they'll get poorer quality rocks and usually skimp a little at almost everything. For a successful reef, that reefer might need to purchase better rocks, redo the aquascape, purchase better equipments and such And not to mention about removing fish that are not reefsafe So that might as well sums up a tear down right?
  4. With such a big tank, I'll advise you to get a good skimmer You can get one easily under 1K if you are looking into a beckett As for lighting, you might want to get a couple of T5s But do note that it is rather hard to convert a FOWLR into a reef tank and you'll probably have to tear down everything and start again.
  5. Thanks for your opinion bro I was actually thinking of adding a couple of actinics to try to bring out the fluorescence in the SPS
  6. Yes, flatworms are mushie's greatest nightmare
  7. It depends on what type of setup you are looking at Maybe give us some more details of your plan so that we can help better
  8. Update: Anthony had decided to support us by donating some posters which are specially signed and numbered for Singapore!!! The order will start soon once I receive the pics of the posters
  9. And I remember the time when my first impression of joe_p according to his previous nick is of a old, grandpa like figure
  10. I've got 2 in one of my mille colonies But can anyone verify this?
  11. Haha the first (or last) few pages kept me amused already
  12. Hi guys, I've got almost nothing much to do these few days so I decided to check out SRC's archives I'm quite amazed at how much we've progressed and of course it sort of gives me the idea of how much we've changed So try this: Go to any one of the forums and at the "pages", click "last" to check out what reefers posted a couple of years back when SRC was first started. Hope what you see would be interesting as when I saw them
  13. For those who have seen my tank, do you think I should add another 2 more T5s (blue tubes) to make my tank bluer?
  14. Try seeding your tank with some coralline chips Your tank will look perfect with coralline adding the blues and purples
  15. 1) Reflectors are used to make the most out of your tubes by reflecting light rays that are not directed downwards into the tank 2) Not very sure but if you want blue, use a blue tube with a quality reflector 3) The reflectors that our sponsors offer are already at a very good price and not to say that they are specially designed with calculated angles to bring the most out of the tubes Hope this helps
  16. Yeah last weekend had the 6680 on promotion (hope NYD got promo too) Looks like a good phone and the reviews are good Would have gotten the new N70 but I'd need some funds for my reef
  17. Ok, will try that next time It's rather hard to take macros using normal lens for my tank cause my stuff are about a foot away from the glass
  18. And let me try a super macro shot of a mille colony
