  1. And update from the previous poll For those who do not know what I am talking about click here
  2. That's good. Maybe post a pic of it for all to see?
  3. That's the right spirit bro!!! Maybe ask your questions in more detail in the future to prevent misunderstandings like this
  4. Oh and another thing for bro petchong to note Be sure to blanch (did I spell that right?) veggies like cabbage before feeding to the tangs And is your AT showing any signs of external parasites like itch?
  5. Yes, I did not agree with his statement that we are iresponsible because we bought fish from a LFS As for the "you" part, it refers to bro petchong The "you" here does not necessarily refer to the person you are talking to. And for the last part, just like bro MC said, we are not here to flame and because my post might sound "flammable", I had included this to tell bro petchong that I have no intention of flaming him and since he did not say whether he had done his research, I felt that it would be good for him to take note of it (if he had not done his research). I believe bro petchong had got my intention, that's why he had clarified and apologised for the post he made about being responsible. Since the thread starter had tried to settle everything and return to topic, I don't see any reason for you to start something which may ultimately result in a flame war. So please bro Alvin, next time you want to start saying someone is wrong, do it via PM and not spark off a fire in a thread
  6. Wear a tight white singlet and a black leather jacket over it Not sure where to find those really tight pants though And maybe try to make your hair stand up (not spike) and stick one of those traditional orange combs with the long handle sticking out of the back pocket of the pants
  7. You bet I will!! Night diving sounds fun too. Heard from AT that you can find fluorescent tubeworms
  8. You mean a staghorn? You can just break it with your hands if the branches are widely spaced apart. If not, you can use a hammer and a screwdriver to chisel frags off
  9. Henry is at Hong Leong Anyway, I don't think you need to add garlic guard to the Formula 2 pellets as they are fortified with garlic already
  10. Before you start your DSB, read up on it first. There is more than meets the sand...
  11. I've even heard of some tangs which peck on algae right in font of the Tunze
  12. Price is not confirmed yet but it'll sell as a 5 poster set with autograph
  13. Hmm I wasn't mentioning about bro petchong there (I'm sorry if it seemed that I did) Just stating in my view, what is considered responsible and irresponsible Well just before we get out of topic, bro petchong asked for suggestions to keep this fish and I had posted some suggestions. The reason why we started the topic on compulsive buying of fish is just that probably by the way bro petchong asked the question, it may seem something like this: "I bought this fish. Now tell me how to care for it." And of course, the fact that petchong had quarantined his new fish is an effort which is applaudable And one more suggestion for petchong, I've noticed tangs like strong water flow. It prevents them from swimming back and forth in the tank
  14. You might want to check out AT's pet fireworm (or something like that)
  15. Haha... always like this sort of things
  16. Thanks for the nice comments guys. Well actually, I credit the success of SPS colouration mostly to the fact that most of my SPS are frags and they are more acclimatised to captive conditions and thrive better. But if you guys want to know, this is how I rate certain aspects of SPS keeping 1) Water flow 2) Water parameters 3) Choosing healthy colonies/frags 4) Lighting The reason why I rate lighting as least important is because of 2 factors. Most photosynthetic corals have a light saturation point whereby no further increase in light intensity would result in more photosynthesis. And if provided with extra light, the zooxathellae in the tissue shuts down and the coral would have to find other sources of nutrition. The other reason is that water clarity plays a big role in lighting a tank. Like Anthony Calfo said in last year's IMAC, there is no point of using light wattage halides when your water is yellowish and blocks out 20%-50% of the light. And the best part is that you are paying to do it!! And bro madmac, I think we share the same liking as I truely like the way a frag encrusts onto the rocks naturally like a tree growing. The satisfaction you get from seeing a tiny frag grow out into a colony cannot be described. As for the spacing, I try to always bear in mind the "elevator" theory whereby you imagine your tank as an elevator and the corals as the people inside it
  17. I don't agree with your statement bro As reefers, it is our duty to make sure that we take good care of every fish we purchase, be it a $1 chromis or a $300 AT. Do take note of what we mention as "hard to keep" as these guys really need proper and even individual care. When you buy your AT, be sure to make sure that it eats and provide that kind of food for it. IMO, all the red bamboo or red grape does not provide enough nutrition for it and might even be toxic in the case of caulerpa. It is not right to say that we are not being responsible because we buy from an LFS as long as we know we are capable of keeping that fish. But in retrospect, it is a irresponsible act to buy a fish from an LFS without knowing it's level of difficulty. Hope you do not get offended by my reply but just that I hope that you take note of this on your next purchase. Good luck on your AT
  18. cyberpig: killing the rocks can be as easy as placing them in water for a few days colinsoon: The reason why it is better to use dead rocks is that firstly, the nuisance crabs, mantis shrimp or pistol shrimp would not be able to harm the fishes. And considering that FOWLR tanks usually have a higher level of nutrient due to the large quantity of fishes, you do not want an algae bloom.
  19. Yeah I agree and the article on star tortoises appeared today on newspaper Do not keep these animals as they are endangered which is something very serious!!
  20. Come to the reefer's gathering in June and see Anthony Calfo do it
