  1. Nice way of letting the water circle in a circular pattern rather than linear.... just sidetrack a bit: look at my sump design, also quite different
  2. Hi guys, was just looking through a series of pumps and noticed that there is a VERY big price gap between different brands of pumps. An example would be an E**im 1200lph pump was $100+ but a sic*e id*a 1300lph is $20+. sice their flowrate is almost the same, how come the price is so different? then in this case, i might as well use a We*pr* 5000lph pump to pump my skimmer rather than a M*g Dr*v*. Can anyone enlighten me on the reason?
  3. WOW!!!!! it must be a real honour to be featured on RC!!! you rock AT
  4. was initially thinking of aqualine but i found it to be too blue. but from the reviews at RC, the AB is quite good. so what do you guys think?
  5. Hi guys, i am getting my new tank soon and has already started planning on the lighting system. I have shortlisted some bulbs in which i will choose one to use I do not really emphasize on the growth rate of the corals but more importantly on their colouration. Best if can get a bulb on the bluer side but not too blue. The bulbs are as follows: 1)250watt XM DE 20K 2)250watt Coravue DE 20K 3)250watt Radium 20K 4)250watt BLV 20K

  10. u sure? i will still try anyway cause using sch $$$ not mine.
  11. hi guys, anyone know where i can get a male hose barb? i want to fit an airline tube into a 13mm pvc tee a million
  12. of course not la, i using it on my school project. u see, i noe many of you say that the beckett is more than enough but i want to really drive those junk out of the water in the shortest time possible so i am sourcing ways to maximise the total concept of a skimmer. thats y u see me having to make a hybrid.
  13. i have never been to industrial estates before
  14. looks like the needlewheel has to cause a lot of trouble. so i think i would omit the needlewheel or at most use it to recirculate the water. about the ventri working with bubble filled water, i have checked with my physics lecturer and he said that it will still work. i decided to come up with this design because i noticed that many beckett skimmers do not have maximum contact time with the water. i will post an updated picture tonight and i wish that you guys will help me along on this project. again guys
  15. hi guys, was just wondering whether ther are such shops in Singapore which are like Home Depot or Walmart? those kind where you can buy lots of DIY stuff(other than DIY shop la)
  16. i will be completing the prototype around May so i will keep u guys updated
  17. hi guys, after my first DIY skimmer, i got inspired to make a monster out of a skimmer. so i pondered a whole day and came up with this: The Skimster the water is passed through a beckett nozzle and enters a mixing chamber. at the bottom, a needlewheel pump is used to cut the bubbles to a very fine size and injected to my skimmer box. the foamy water then passes through a venturi valve and spiral into a tube. then the foam will be separated from the water by a baffle and viola! the skimster is born.
  18. i bet the paint will be spoilt in no time
  19. hi guys, i need to pump abt 3000+lph into my DIY skimmer. problem is, i already have a 2500lph pump. so should i get another 2500lph pump and connect with T-joint or i get one big pump (Iwaki, Mag....)?
  20. its a sort of snail with a small shell (i forgot the name) but i saw it in RC before. if i am not wrong, it is reef safe. u can try your luck in RC.....
