  1. The Kelvin value is the colour temperature of the bulb and has nothing to do with the intensity It all depends on your preference: 6500K Yellow, High PAR, More growth of corals 10000K Cool White, Medium PAR, Resonable growth of corals 12000K Cooler White, Lesser PAR, Lesser Growth 14000K Bluish White, Lesser PAR, Lesser Growth, Colours more vivid 20000K Blue, Very low PAR, Low growth, Colours more vivid
  2. Red Dragon is really nice small in footprint, low power consumption, sleek colours.... btw I found out that the so called "pressure rated" pumps are not what they seem the real pressure rated pumps sucks in water and injects pressure on the water so much so that it literally explodes out of the pump anyone can verify this?
  3. you got a lionfish with other fishes? won't it eat them?

  9. just 2 points for you hermit, 1)If you notice the bottom turning black, that's hydrogen sulfate and its toxic so never stir the sand bed 2)The key point for sandbeds is the surface area cheers
  10. I am not sure what species but the first one is definately a juvenile of some angelfish
  11. looks like the aquafuge, think it should work well without the baffles
  12. nah its the same. only plenums use different grain sizes with a cryptic environment in the center. as I have mentioned, the most important factor is the surface area
  13. that's a leather coral
  14. yo Jimaroon, just wondering where you got all these stuff
  15. you got to understand that as the sand bed goes deeper, the oxygen gradient might not be enough for enough to diffuse into the depth, causing an anoxic region. The anoxic region, instead of converting nitrates to nitrogen gas, it converts it to ammonium which is one of the fuel sources for algal growth, hence defeats the purpose of having a sand bed. From what I know, a sand bed should not be more than 4 inches thick
  16. I highly recommend grade 0 or grade 1 sand. The difference in surface area is drastic!!!
  17. is there a difference between the green ones and the brown ones?
  18. if you do not want to remove your rocks, you can get hermits to do the job
  19. IMO if you have a good clean-up crew, dead stuff would not be a problem but this does not mean that you do not treasure your LS
