Here's an insight on my intended lighting system 2x250w Ushio 10k 4x24w Aquaz T5 Blue Pro According to a discussion in RC, the best combination of lighting for SPS in terms of growth and health is a 10k bulb to 2 T5 Blueplus to fill in the 450nm spectrum. It is said that this setup will provide a really full spectrum light with CRI index of 90-95 depending on the bulbs used. Will be setting up a 80% SPS dominated tank so I will have to consider providing the best environment I can for the corals

Been running the MD55 for the second day and i conclude that it is too strong to be a return pump. It made ripple lines even with my PLs and created little whirlpools at the corners. Anyway, can anyone tell me how you guys manage to keep the sandbed levelled even with a Tunze (lets say 6060)? Its flowrate is even higher than the MD!!! Now because of internal currents, the sand from the sides are moved to create hills and valleys in the middle.

Review on the different kinds of Marine Salts
blueheaven replied to hongqixian's topic in Product Reviews
seems like the S-15 report shows very interesting reports but i just cannot bring myself to disagree that they are promoting a certain brand of salt: M@ri$e En*iro#men% IMO, high solubility, low in phospate and silicates and low in heavy metals will make up for the desired salt. all other stuff about trace element content can be adjusted my the hobbyist unless you are a very lazy person and just want everything to come in a package -
spent me a whole day to tidy things up and plan for next day
