  1. I don't trust LFS too However, there might be a possibility that water collected from the sea might contain some trace chemicals that allows certain corals to survive. So whether or not to buy from LFS is still a preference of the reefer
  2. I've been recommended this product by a reefer friend and I just want to hear from those who had used or are still using this product. Is this product really useful in bringing out colour of the corals and help coral grow faster?
  3. That would work too but if you drip it everyday, you might overdose it so be extra careful when dosing kalkwasser to keep pH high
  4. It is normal for pH to drop during night time as the carbon dioxide produced from respiration reacts with water to form carbonic acid. It will usually return back to normal during the day but if you want to keep it stable, grow macroalgae under reverse photoperiod which means to turn the refugium lights on during the night. Hope that helps
  5. Need more votes please. Don't tell me only these few are coming
  6. upz I'm also selling my recirculating CR with media for $400 (Ehiem pump included)
  7. Is it hard? If it is, it might be coralline but if it's not, then it is nuisance algae
  8. Went out in the rain yesterday to get some SPS Here's "half" of one of the colonies I got
  9. That's actually quite high in my perspective considering you've got 2 tangs which poo a lot Yeah and I also noticed my water becoming clearer when I upgrade my skimmer. How long does it take usually to reach the 600ml mark?
  10. Can I ask what's that probe you got in the glass and what are the red media in the FR? Pardon me for being curious
  11. My dad had this siphon thing that he used for his discus before my tank came in I think you can get that at any LFS (freshwater too) for a low price

  13. Then you got to provide them with a predator in your tank so that they will school
  14. I think fishes school for a reason Like some small fish school because they appear larger to the predators and others school for mates, they don't just school for well... the sake of schooling To solve this query of whether PBT school in captivity, I think we must first find out why they school in the first place and since it's to drive away other fishes and territorise an area for food, it might not happen in our tanks The reason, I think, is that the PBT would firstly not face a lack of food and secondly, there is no other place for them to territorise other than the tank itself
  15. Check this out: http://www.reefs.org/library/article/r_toonen18.html Most species will graze anything from algae to sponges and cnidarians, but the majority of them are definitely eating a large proportion of animal prey in their normal diet.
  16. Yep, it certainly looks like a cowrie But I thought they ate fish?
  17. Those are diatoms and you can get rid of them by doing water changes using DI water and running rowaphos BTW, you should post this in the "General reefkeeping" forum
  18. Another strange fish with a strange name would be the sunfish aka "mola mola"
