  1. actually, you are both half correct the optimal size is to be the same as your main tank or even bigger (look at RC people using huge rubbermaid tubs and you'll know what i mean)
  2. hehe looks like the one i sucked out using a vacuum cleaner last time...
  3. you should post this in the general reefkeeping forum
  4. actually, your sump should be as big as space allows to increase the total water volume look at people at RC with multiple huge rubbermaid tubs and you'll know what i mean
  5. Well, you posted in the wrong forum and you got a sea apple(remove it immediately) and goniopora(bad choice)
  6. basically, they should have no torn fins and must be fat and feeding well. another factor is that you must try to minimise the stress you cause it
  7. thats a cauliflower coral and is considered a VERY difficult species to keep in captivity because it relies on high amounts of plankton to thrive.
  8. That's the pic that brought me the idea of keeping bannerfish(look at my sig.). Basically, I think its a risk you have to take just like keeping angels. Its based on you husbandry and feeding frequency IMO
  9. Hi guys, I noticed that there are lots of juv. sailfin tangs around lately and I want to get a Zebrasoma Desjardinii. Since the juv. of Z. Desjardinii and Z. Veliferum are almost identical, how do I differentiate between the two?
  10. I envision that SRC would one day open a mini clubhouse where we could have frequent meetings to discuss all sorts of topics on reefkeeping. We could even hold talks and seminars to educate and share findings and information. We could even set up a shop selling some products or equipments and the funds collected could go into further progress of the club. Maybe, if we are capable, we could even organise frag x-change sessions monthly!! We can also embark on things like refugium kits or many other cultures that cannot be found in LFS or even on research projects that can not only benefit reefers in Singapore but also share it with reefers from other parts of the world. So let us "maju" from this "hentak" position and grow into a full fledged club where reefers get to know each other and learn new skills and knowledge
  11. try to look into any holes in your LR with a torchlight and see whether there is a pair of eyes (hated those from the beginning) or a body of a shrimp in it
  12. Heard from RC that moonlight might trigger coral spawning in a full moon night, so romantic
  13. recently, there has been a debate on whether caulerpa sp. is suitable to be put into tank. anyway, I also dun find it good because it easily goes asex and the toxins it produces will even disrupt the growth of some corals and cause RTN
  14. hehe, now we are in a society where age does not matter cheers bro
