  1. It'll be like the eden only that it not only swings left and right but up and down too
  2. Was looking at my Tunze 6060 and wondered if anyone thought of making a wavemaker like a fan? Basically the propeller blades are like the blades of the fan only that there is this outer rotating part that directs the wind to all directions due to the angle of the flaps. With this design, we can make a Tunze like wavemaker that distributes the flow
  3. Read my article on sandbeds, you'll know Its not just say that you have worm tracks, etc your DSB is working. A DSB functions on the diffusion of oxygen to create a anoxic region which is very low in oxygen but not totally anaerobic.
  4. Yah sandbed dynamics are still very vague. That's why I am on a research team on this subject
  5. I'm going to redo the piping to direct the flow to my growout tank this weekend And I don't really like epoxies cause they are quite unsightly
  6. Well if you want to use it in your display then that's ok But do not use those for DSB
  7. Didn't read through everything but I just want to share something with you all. Actually my tank is going through 24hr water change cause I cant seem to stop a small leak from my skimmer output pipe. Tried everything from seal tape to glue to even parafilm!!!! Maybe that's why I do not have any algae growing in my tank
  8. yah but hydrogen sulphate only forms at lower anaerobic areas so unless you really turn the sandbed upside down, you will not release the toxin Anyway the concentration is so small that it probably would not cause any significant damage
  9. Actually what harm is there to stir up the bubbles? Just don't stir up the sandbed!!!!!
  10. Well if you are content and your LS are doing well, power to you
  11. Anyone? Need to clear this off fast Price negotiable
  12. Well, much planning must be done before you start the hobby Like me, I spent half a year planning my tank So if you think you can make do with "budget" stuff, think again Smaller tanks are much more difficult to maintain than bigger tanks No offence but just my opinion
  13. Heres a pic of a little xenia frag on my LR Attached itself within 5 hours!!!!!
  14. Actually IMO those airstone driven skimmers are a waste of money and resources. Just think, why would some of us settle for large expensive skimmers when we might as well go for $5 ones?
  15. Those are probably oxygen bubbles from diatoms
  16. I need to repost this as I have to clear this off soon I got 2x150w Dymax 10k bulbs for sale Used only 3 times, total 15 mins Going for $50 each PM me if you are interested
  17. A mature DSB will have bubbles forming at the lower levels (not the top!!!) And you will notice many burrows by worms, etc
  18. I'm thinking of getting an aditional ocean runner pump for a dedicated closed loop circulation Would this increase the output from the dursos?
  19. Man those pratas must have costed you a bomb!!!!!
  20. You sure hydrogen peroxide can be used? Its a bleaching agent ya know
  21. Yep I think so too But still waiting in vain for my chiller to arrive Now using all available lights I can find for my tank
  22. Last for the day, a cool blue-green fungia Polyp still contracted though, hope it expands soon.....
