  1. I think they all trying to "kay kiang" only
  2. Do these guys tunnel into the sand after lights out?
  3. That small piece on top of the second from bottom left.... you fragged?
  4. Try covering the glass with some black paper as I did. It helps in a way to stop them from growing
  5. Then you should check whether any algae is growing there. If not, then probably you have tapped the potential of a successful DSB
  6. I do not really understand what you mean but I'll try to help. The "anoxic" zone is a term coined by Bob Goemans for a zone which is not totally anaerobic but at the same time consist of minute levels of oxygen. It is in this layer that nitrates are reduced to nitrogen gas by bacterial means.
  7. Another way which I use to evaluate a DSB is whether it is teeming with life My DSB has lots of worms, pods, flatworms, snails, tunicates and its literally "moving" all the time
  8. Here: http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...pic=24450&st=0&
  9. Ok, somehow I had reviewed this thread and I will explain it to you An organism being an autotroph is able to synthesize foos for itself in the prescence of light, somewhat like photosynthesis. Since the bacteria is unable to use light to make its own food, it cannot be classified as an autotroph
  10. I beg to differ. You mentioned that bubbles are appearing at parts where it is exposed to sunlight. This is most probably oxygen gas from algae that is growing. The heterotrophic anaerobic bacteria which converts nitrates to nitrogen gas is usually found at the middle layer and they do not need light to make food unlike the autotrophic aerobic bacteria found at the surface. You can read my article on sandbeds for some info
  11. What is the changeout time for T5s? I had always thought that T5s can run for a year before the spectrum changes
  12. Hmmm.... thanks for the insight DB and veliferum I will consider modding my current fixture to 250w and external ballast
  13. Ok I will take pics tomorrow cause my dad took the DC on his business trip So which will give me more intensity, 2x150w MH or 8x54w T5?
  14. Wow I have never seen anything like that before!!! Do they move??
  15. Those are probably cyanobacteria and they grow when you have excessive nitrates
  16. Just got comments from DE that T5s cannot penetrate my 2.5ft height Arrrghhh now in a dilemma
  17. Then how you come up with the name anyway? At least show how is it different from other sun corals
  18. You still have not defined what you mean by super sun coral
  19. Yeah save the hustle but I kind of feel that 150w does not really give me the punch that I need. And my MH fixture does not have parabolic reflectors and a lot of light gets reflected out But 1 thing I like about MH though is the glitter lines it produces Anyway, cute supergirl
  20. When you buy can frag for me? Got no time to go down. Anyway, this is Blane Perun's PPE
