  1. I'm talking about the dome shaped ones I'm afraid of breaking the rocks cause it may chip off the base of the SPS as well. Or will the accidental cut result in a new specimen?
  2. Corallimorphs come in different families such as discosoma, actinodiscus, ricordia, rhodactis, etc. Yumas are ricordia yuma and floridas are ricordia florida.
  3. Don't think so as i have pasted tape on the lights as well
  4. Bottle tops? I'm talking about those which are permanently attached to the round bases.
  5. Definately hydrogen sulphide Its a poisonous substance but usually it would not accumulate to fatal concentrations in our tanks. Just get you sandbed oxygen rich water and it'll go away
  6. Hi guys, recently there have been shipments of aquacultured SPS (good, we're helping reefs) and I cannot seem to securely place the specimens with the round rocks. They cannot sit on the LR and are hard to glue. Can anyone share how you place those SPS with the round rocks?
  7. Haha...oh I see Well, I have glued and pasted those ultra strong tapes to secure it
  8. Smaller clams prefer phytoplankton but the larger ones can depend on algae symbiosis alone
  9. I can help man the booth on the Sat And I can also help to take pics if needed. But still have to see my results first so dun put me as I/C
  10. In a nutshell, if you have algae growing on the surface of the sand, its most likely to be oxygen bubbles. How deep is your sandbed anyway?
  11. I had a crocea that thrived for about 3 months in my previous tank under 110w of PLs. To bad I had sold it away
  12. Will adding baffles help in solving the problem? And to sidetrack a bit, I advise all beckett users to use a toothpick to clean the air valves often as I dug up balls of dust from mine
  13. Its just resting on the wooden pieces (supposed to be door handles) Looks like its floating on top of the hood if you look at it in the front though Bro DA: Hehe...tank shot coming real soon
  14. Got a new clam Should be a squamosa but the patterns on its mantle looks like those of a derasa
  15. Well, I did a $4 improvment to my lights Pssst...bought from somewhere recently got big sale
  16. They basically need a very deep sandbed of around 12" I know of a reefer here who has them feeding on cyclops
  17. Hi guys, just curious to know whether I can mix carbon and phosphate remover in 1 FR?
  18. I somehow got the feeling that the author is trying to discourage aquaculture Look at the statement "Aquaculture production of ornamental species should be avoided when it would replace a harvest of wild animals that maintains habitat, a cultural benefit, or an economic benefit" How can harvesting of wild animals maintain habitat? "Thus, public opposition will not be as great since there is no direct impact on the marine environment" Yeah right, all of us know that wild collections are already damaging the reefs
