James, are you comparing corals under led lights? Because it is true that my sps base is white as its shaded. From top view the corals look great. Can't take a pic as my hp pic colours are way off under leds.

JM's reef diary (5X2.5X2.5)+ seahorse tank
Firestarter replied to ClOwNy_LoVeR's topic in Members Tank & Specs
This tank has a way way better TOTQ standard. Beats the current one by a mile. Well done bro, very very nice tank. Too bad didn't have the chance to view it in person that day. -
Problems with keeping sps

Bryopsis is one tough algae high up on the list. I rather get cynao anytime than bryopsis. Manually removing them will only help to spread its spores. Not many fish will eat them as it taste is nasty. Read that raising mg will help. If only one rock has them, I suggest you ditch that rock before it spreads. -

Will try to take a pic of the air filter when I'm at daiso. I seem to recall that it was first shared by Mini-reefer in his thread. -

You are welcome. Just make sure to wash and dry the blade properly as mine rusted when I forgot to rinse with tapwater. -

Frag plug leg Stick your DIY frag plugs on it to create the legs. Long enough to stick firmly into liverock crevices or on the sandbed. Snap them off if its too long. -

Agree with you bro, the blue ones are a waste of money. Get the light green ones, there are still unwanted leftover pcs at each store, as they are being replaved by the newer dark green version. Here is a pic of the older light green version while stocks last! -

Ice packs There are a few sizes of ice packs to choose from. I use them on hot days when my chiller is struggling and unable to chill the water down fast enough. With some rubber bands you can hang it to your tank side if you do not have a sump. Just swap between packs. Good thing about this method is that you are chilling down your tank at no cost, since your freezer is running 24/7 anyway. Also great for emergencies like power failures. -

DIY frag plugs - (my personal "secret" which I will share!) Make your own DIY frag plugs for only $4! Buy a packet of EASY QUICK SETTING cement, $2. NOTE I HAVE ONLY USED THIS QUICK SETTING TYPE, I'm not responsible for the other types as I have not tried. Buy an ice cube tray with the other $2. Here are the steps. 1. Mix the cement powder with water in a disposable container (I use those tao huay containers) 2. Mix until the texture is similar to mashed potato (I use estimation, cant help you here on the exact formula) 3. Use a disposable spoon to scoop the mixture into each cube 4. After filling the whole tray, knock the tray against a hard surface (floor) to make the paste flat 5. Leave it overnight to dry (approx 6-12 hrs) 6. To remove the plugs, bend the tray outwards slightly and they will pop out 7. Remove the excess edges by 'rubbing' a few plugs together Note: If you want thicker plugs, fill with more mixture. If your plugs are weak and crack easily, or have crack lines, I suggest you redo again as you either put too much or too little water. You may want to try making 1 or 2 plugs first until you get the right mixture. 1 packet can make about 3 rounds of 24pc plugs depending on how thick you want. The plugs are ready to use and no extra baking or drying etc needed. Here is a pic of the end results: -

Overflow comb Used for those who are looking for overflow teeth or comb. Mini sponge Magic sponge, used for cleaning tough to remove algae. Comes in small cubes, use and throw away, convenient! -
Ok guys, as a sincere gesture of apology after all the recent misunderstandings, I will be sharing some personal tips (secrets if you wanna call it) of useful things to buy for your tank from Daiso, each item as you know for a mere $2. Hope I can continue to contribute by sharing of knowledge/tips to the community. *Disclaimer: I am in no way advertising or profiting from sales from Daiso by starting this thread. Super glue gel Used for sticking frags onto plugs or LR. Cheaper alternative to BSI glue, but some say that its abit more watery. Picture shows the newer type that they have which I find it not as sticky as the older version (light green in colour). Mini 1.5L jerry can Good for using it as a dosing container. Frag working tray Sick of sticking your frags over a cloth and getting stuff wet? A simple tray can help to prevent water strains etc. Get the plastic ones instead, the metal tray I got rusty quickly. Mini frag station (Magnetic) Just bought this to try, have not tested it yet. Great shape but however the magnet is weak and requires some modification. Frag station (magnetic) - contributed by kkk121 Great find by reefer kkk121. Able to fit frag plugs nicely and comes with a strong magnet. Turkey baster - contributed by LittleBurger Plastic turkey baster used for sucking up dirt in your tank. However it cracks after a few months of usage. Better to stock up some. Please feel free to update this list if you have any other useful items from Daiso to contribute. I will update this list again as I don't have the rest of the items with me on hand.

Ok in that case I'm truly sorry for the mistaking you for someone else.

Using his gf's pic as his avatar is a dead giveaway. No need for IP checks. Unless I'm genuinely mistaken which I hope I am, I sincerely apologise. Cheers and reef on. TS, I have some chaeto to spare, but collect at TPY.

An alternative is to cover it with epoxy or superglue.

Hot pink Birdnest colony for bid from $1
Firestarter replied to ClOwNy_LoVeR's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Bro, I don't mean to spoil your auction but just pointing it out to you to be fair for the other bidders. About the thread, I didn't reply because it will only fuel the fire instead of the original purpose of constructive discussion/debate. You have a very nice tank from your pic, hope I can meet up with you some time to view your tank too. Cheers. -

Do a search for chiton or limpet and see which one it is. Both are harmless. -
