  1. Just want to share with you guys a picture that I took of a blue tang. It was in one of the display tanks of the 'National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium' in Taiwan. Could it be a hybrid? Or a colour pigmentation problem? I don't really know haha, maybe those experts can tell.
  2. Its good to know that you haven't given up this wonderful hobby. I guess there's still a part of 'reefing blood' in every reefer that we cannot lose no matter how hard it is. Haha, can I make a special request too? Can you take a pic of your mangrove tank? I'm very interested to see how the mangroves are doing.
  3. Not too soon, there are some changes in plans at the moment. Currently I'm overseas and will be back in Aug-Sept so it'll be a few months till I start my setup again.
  4. Sorry I haven't been replying. Work as caught up with me these whole time. Hope to see some pics of ur new scape.
  5. Becareful not to injure the mushies with your tweezers. The worms are really fast once try your attack so you gotta be quick. Look out for a brown line moving. They'll take cover under the mushies so its quite hard get them.
  6. I read on a thread in Nano-Reef that one method of removing flatworms is to shone light at one part of the tank when its totally dark for a few hours. The flatworms will become attracted to the lights. You have to siphon them out. Not much use to you since yours is an office tank, but I hope it might help those who are trying to get rid of them too.
  7. Better to get rid of flat worms, before they start multiplying. I had an attack of flatworms a few years ago on my yumas. Tried searching the net for a solution but couldn't find any, so I tried removing them manually with a tweezer. Damaged a few yumas as the tweezer was sharp but never saw the worms again since.
  8. Hi there, nice tank you have. Please continue with the updates and let us know the current situation of your tank.
  9. Hi peacemaker! Thanks for the pics! You may not know, but the pics really give me lots of info as I'm also planning a setup similar to yours. Your dymax skimmer really looks good, and skimming quite well. Mind if I know how much you got it for? As for your 'sump', looks really tight in there, cant figure out how you managed to squeeze in the chateo also. Keep up with the updates!
  10. OMG, post the pics please! Can't wait to see them!
  11. Hi reefzz, can you post a pic of your mangrove? Really interested to know how it has become ever since the last update 1 year ago. Thanks.
  12. I'm very interested to see whats going on behind your tank. The 'sump' compartment that is. Any chance you can take a few pics of it? This thread is my inspiration because I have almost the same tank plans as you. Hope you don't mind. One suggestion, maybe you can stick a layer of black electric tape at the brim of the tank to hide the water line?
  13. Hi peacemaker, I thought your 1st tank was already the top, but now, this tank is even better! I like your very clean tank! Will keep following this thread, so please don't stop the updates. One question though, you attached the wavemaker to the return?
  14. Anyone ever tried using this brand of salt called BioMarine? Its almost the same price as Red Sea but kinda hard to find. So far I used it and its harder to dissolve than Red Sea, and also leaves white ppt on the surface of the water when mixing. But after using it, I realised that my coraline algae really bloomed like nobody's business. But then again I've only tried these 2 brands, so don't know if Marine Environment have a much greater effect.
  15. You can try the Atman 104 pump. It has a flowrate of 1200L/H if I'm not wrong. It only cost about $12-$20. Thats what I used for my Weipro 2011 skimmer before. Shouldn't have a problem with this skimmer.
  16. Hi MbMC, thanks for the feedback. After much thinking about what you said, I don't think the hole at the bottom will work in this case. Looks like I have to use the traditional method of using pipes from the 3rd chamber to the main tank.
  17. Here is a list of equipment I've planned for my tank. Lighting - 2x24W T5 HO lights Chiller - Resun CL 280 Skimmer - Tunze 9002.000 DOC Wavemaker - Seio M820 Return Pump - TOM800 3200L/H After a brief calculation, my tank would be about 85litres/ 23G. I was wondering if the chiller will be sufficient as it says on the website that the CL280 recommended volume is <300L, considering heat from lights and pumps etc. Do you guys think its better to get a CL 280 or CL 450? Considering the difference in wattage, which would save more in terms of consumption in the long run?
  18. Hi guys, after almost stopping for 1 year, I've been thinking of starting up again. The process is now in its planning stage, and I've decided to go for a customised ISO tank, rather than using a sump. But firstly, I would like to ask for your opinions on what you think about the tank. I've made a rough drawing of the tank, but not exactly drawn to scale though. The tank will be a 2x1.5x1ft tank, the height is not confirmed yet because I like the idea of a shallow reef concept. However, I will have a few questions to ask, because I don't know if this plan will work or not. Since this is an ISO tank, I do not have to care about durso pipes or reverse flow from the return pump since the water flow will stay fixed in the tank itself. 1. If I attach my return pump to blow water out from the red hole, will the water level in the 3rd chamber drop, or reach an equilibrium with the rest of the tank? 2. Whats the difference with the use of the hole, or fixing a U-shaped pipe from the return pump in the 3rd chamber to the main tank? Sorry if I sound confusing, I hope you guys know what I'm talking about. Please give your advise.
