Here's a pic of how I connected my Atman 104 pump with my Skimmer, using a plastic tube. Used cable ties to secure the excess gap. Forgot to take a pic when secured. Will do so in the next update.

Mega Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover - DIY!

I have a trial design for my simple scrubber. Pics to be up soon. -
He is right. Marine tanks have more specific gravity than FW tanks. Just imagine a layman comparison, Example: 3ft 100G FW tank Total weight of water = 300L = 300kg 3ft 100G Marine tank Total weight of water = 300L = 300kg Salt required = 20kg Live Rocks = 50kg Total weight (content) of FW tank = 300kg Total weight (content) of Marine tank = 470kg That is why you need a thicker glass tank for marine setups. The bigger the tank, the thicker the glass. Patrick, your tank how many ft? How many mm is your glass thickness?

May I know where you got the moonlight from and how much you bought it for?

Poll on Distilled, RO/DI or Tap water for water change?
Firestarter replied to curahee's topic in General Reefkeeping_
I use tap water. Recently, I've seen ppl new to the hobby asking about using tap water. It is not true that you cannot use tap water. Yes, DI/RO water will be a better choice, but why are ppl quick to state that tap water is strictly disallowed, making 'newbies' confused? -
No, please do not use the water from your FW tank. I suggest that you restart the tank from scratch. What is the size of your tank? Thickness of the glass? Do note that FW tanks are not recommended for marine use because the thickness of the glass is thinner. This will depend on the size of your tank. Also, it is not true that you cannot start a marine tank using tap water. Just that tap water contains phosphates and nitrates which will lead to algae blooms and not so good in the long run.

Hi bigben, thanks for the reply. I've used turpentine to wipe the inside of the tank to remove the stains. As for the PVC pipe, I have drilled a total of 6 holes, 3 on each side. Will definitely drill more holes if needed after testing the skimmer. Cheers. Thanks for all the reply guys, I still have much more to learn and need an outsider's view on anything to improvise.

Hi, thanks for your comments. To be honest, I'm not really good with DIY, just trying out as I go along. More updates to come. Next would be fitting the skimmer to the pump, and replacing the lightset wiring. Argh, still long way to go.

Overview of the tank. All equipment are not assembled yet. Discovered another problem again. After the tank has dried, noticed some unsightly silicon stains still stuck on the walls. Do you think its safe to use turpentine to wipe them off in the INSIDE of the tank?
