  1. So did you learn or find out why your zoos died? Its important to learn from this so it won't happen again. I would recommend that you save up your $ for something else. How about keeping a FOWLR tank first? You can then use the cash as a reserve, cause no point saving and buying corals only to experience them dying on you again.
  2. First, you got to tell me what you plan to do with the tank? If you stay near, I'd be more than willing to help you out. But my schedule is kinda tight now cause school just started and I'm working part time also.
  3. I'm only using this tank because I had a spare tank lying around, and want a small setup due to space constraints. From what I know, quite a lots of reefers have used this tank before during the nemo craze. Why don't you get a proper customised tank if you are afraid of it cracking/leaking?
  4. Thought I'd fool around with these. Its 2 mini torch lights with blue bulbs that I got from Taiwan. I somehow already planned to use them as moonlights for the tank. The left one runs on 2 AA size batteries, while the right one runs on 3 of those round (laser pointer type) batteries. Long term project: To convert them to AC powered.
  5. Just a pic of my IOS. Very satisfied with my design now.
  6. Sorry, just want to ask since I noticed that you're using that particular fan, is it any good? Saw them selling but duno if its strong enough.
  7. May I know what brand of pump you are using, and how much it cost? Sorry, I need to ask a noob qns, what will happen if I use a pump above 2000L/H? Cause I got a return pump sitting around, its 3500L/H.
  8. You can buy a brand new one from Pasir Ris farm, one of the shops are selling. But not worth getting brand new, because with that price, you can get something better. I'd rather you get one cheap from the pasar malam section.
  9. I really appreciate your kind offer, you have pm.
  10. Thank you all for your comments, I somehow think that the whole leaking episode isn't that bad after all. Cause it gave me a chance to make adjustments to the setup that would benefit me in the long run. Now I'm not sure if I should placed a piece of prawn to kick start the cycling or just leave it and let the LR dieoffs cycle by themselves?
  11. I'm using an Atman 104 pump for my 2011. It makes alot of noise, not sure if the pump is faulty or not so don't intend to get a new pump of the same type. What other pumps can I use for the skimmer? Not too expensive ones like Ehiem, my budget is $30.
  12. I have a large piece of LR, about 2kg to give away, and one small piece of LR. Its half submerged in water now, so have to clear away fast. Collection at Simei. Please pm me if interested. Preferably on Sat. Would appreciate if could exchange for maybe a small frag of mushie or zoo.
  13. Thanks for the comments. I have to scape carefully so as not to blow the flow from the seio. This current scape will do for now. Its hard to create caves and arcs because my LR is too big. Will let the tank cycle for now.
  14. Changes made from old leaking tank to new tank 1. Cut the acrylic partition to reduce the height of the overflow 2. The hole for the seio is now at the bottom of the tank 3. Skimmer output has been changed back to the original sponge 4. DIY some holders to put the eggcrate (used to place the eggcrate on the seio before)
  15. Another view. What do you guys think of the scape?
  16. Added all equipment, and fired up the seio. No hassles or disasters this time! Only problem is that the skimmer pump is making alot of noise. I think its spoilt or something, have to find a new pump. The pic here shows the LR being dumped into the tank with water filled.
  17. Washed and taped up the tank today. Looks so clean and most importantly, new! I like the feeling of new tanks. Everything is the same as before except the seio is now upsidedown.
  18. I am also using a standard 2ft tank, with DIY IOS. You can refer to my thread for more info. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=74516 Also using a Weipro 2011 with Atman 104 pump.
  19. Wow, so late still up? Thanks. Will update more later.
  20. Nice tank! Quite a pity on the width though, 6" width is really narrow! I like the open spaced concept. If I were you, I'd forget about the corals and keep a FOWLR tank full of butterfly fish. You really need to post more pics of your tank. Are you using a sump? Or IOS? Do update more.
  21. Its still in the testing stages. Yes, I agree it has more restriction this way, the 'comb' is loosely attached and can be plugged out easily. Tomorrow I will begin the filling up of the tank. Really tired after working more than 14hrs straight.
