  1. Did a minor rescape yesterday. Lost a very nice coloured mushroom give to me from a reefer that melted on me overnight. First LS death...! A colleague asked 'whats that piece of rock doing there up there'. Thought it was funny so I decided to take a FTS as the same time. Cheers.
  2. It has started to open up. Hope this is a better pic for ID.
  3. Was told its a branching coral... plate coral do not branch right? I think it would be easier if it blooms...
  4. Thanks for the ID. Just as I suspected but had to be sure. Plan to nurse it back to heath..
  5. This thread reminded me about periwinkle snails that I read about in a book. They are colourful and also serve the same purpose too. I wonder if periwinkle snails can be found in LFS here.
  6. Its been almost 3 weeks now and the mushrooms have still not recovered. Here it is as of today. It is recovering very very slowly.... at least it has not melted. The other heads seem to be squished up as well.
  7. Guys, I was wondering if there is such a thing as a mini circuit breaker that is plugged in to the wall socket, and the extension plug of the tank be connected to it, so that whatever powertrip or anything from the tank would be handled by this mini circuit breaker? I'm worried that my office tank will cause a powertrip or something and I don't want it to affect the whole office! Any reefers here know about such a product, where to buy it and how much does it cost?
  8. Check if anything is blocking the skimmer intake pump.
  9. Got a frag from a reefer. He doesn't know what it is also. Can someone please ID it?
  10. Just like to share some info on the pros and cons of having an office tank. Pros: -No need for the use of chiller (aircon) -No electric bills -Free distilled water Cons: -No aircon during weekends -No control of tank during weekends (blackout etc) -Can't go on long leave (without colleague's help)
  11. To be on the safe side, try to retain as much of your liverocks if you can by placing it in your sump. Use cured liverocks for the new ones, and keep at least 20% of your current liverocks in the display tank.
  12. Time for some updates. Things that I've done to the tank: 1. Added my first swimming LS - an azure damsel. Yes I know that damsels are gangsters. But I wanted a fish that had a nice colour contrast, swim around alot, and are hardy. Considering adding a orchid dottyback in the future. Max would be 2 fishes for this tank. I also got some mushroom frags... 2. Install a DIY PC fan (for weekends/after office hrs) 3. Install a ATO drip 4. Added a beta box for coral frags FTS. Had to dim the lights by adding a piece of paper under it so my new mushrooms don't get shocked, thats why the pic look washed out.
  13. Not worth doing it and polluting your tank since turbo snails cost only $1. Also, the snails on the beach are of different species and it likes to surface out of the water. I know because I caught them before and they kept climbing out of my tank... not advisable for aquariums.
  14. Should have posted earlier... I was there just now but not interested in angels... or else would have checked for you.
  15. Just went down to LCK201.... Mostly empty... don't know when is their shipment. Best to call them if not you'll make a wasted trip like me.
  16. Thinking of putting a yellow wrasse and a purple firegoby. For CUC just some bumblebee snails and a turbo snail that I already have. Not sure if the yellow wrasse will whack cleaner shrimp but might add one also.
  17. Bro slapper, thanks for your comments. Currently I'll stick to soft corals as I want to keep it a low maintenance tank. I'll slowly build up confidence to keep LPS later. Its kinda hard to find small coral frags too. I do have coral chips and I'll consider adding them in if the star polyps can't spread enough. I'm also having trouble thinking of what fishes to put inside...
