  1. Will have to give CREE LED a pass... Its too big and I can't mount it anywhere as the tank is in the office.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys, My tank is 36x22x17cm which is a very shallow tank. The water level is about 14-15cm. The budget is about $70-$80, which is not too deep I know, but I don't want to spend a few hundreds on a light for a small tank. I plan to keep LPS and softies. LumenAqua mini seems like a good light. But is it bright enough?
  3. Guys, I'm stuck between 3 lightsets for my 36cm long tank. The depth is only 17cm which is really shallow. I'm currently using the AquaZonic Double Bright G2 which I find its too whitish. Want to know if you guys have used any of these lightsets and judge by the 3 points: 1. Shimmering / ripple effect 2. No yellowish tinge 3. Brightest Hope you guys can help. Really appreciated. BeamsWork Ultra Bright Clamp on AquaZonic Super Bright LED (seems really good but no reviews from anyone yet) BeamsWork 1300
  4. After looking at the Beamswork 200 in action, I find that there is no point in getting the normal powered ones. Get at least double powered. But its only available for 45cm and above.
  5. I used to have a azure damsel in my previous tank. After adding the dottyback, it whacked the damsel so I have separated the 2 fishes. The dottyback is going to be the only fish as I'm trying to reduce the bioload. Lesson learnt: Don't be pressured in adding LS to your tank! (colleagues kept saying why only 1 fish) Haha... Will post more pics if there is something to update. Meanwhile just letting the corals stabilize.
  6. I want to add one more small piece of LR over the LR at right corner, to give the scape more depth. I would like to use PAR38 but its too big and bulky, and for an office tank, its going to increase my already high profile. (Boss not too happy about my 2 tanks. yikes!) Also planning to add SPS in the future. Main priority is to fill the bareness with LPS first.
  7. Thanks for the comments, the tank really looks better in real life. I can't seem to capture the true colour with my hp. Also, the lighting is more of a pure white temp (not yellowish) which makes the tank look wierd. It does not have the blue spectrum like what a reef tank should have. Plannin to change to the ultra bright beamswork clamp on led. Till then please bear with the funny contrast.
  8. Yes.. its at 23'c now. Using DIY pc fan for the weekends.
  9. Planning to add one or two more liverocks. The intention is to have as little rocks as possible.
  10. Been wanting to do a minimalist pico for some time. I finally found myself the right tank. 1. Pico --> check 2. Shallow --> check 3. Rimless --> check 4. Glass --> check Tank dimensions: 36 (L) x22 ( x17cm (H) Equipment: Aquazonic G2 LED HOB filter Boyu pump as wavemaker Loving the shallow effect. Looks really bare now. Hopefully it would look better when its filled with corals. Next step would be to find a suitable light.. as I find the light too white and not enough blue. Comments appreciated.
  11. There were 2 left. The dimensions are 36x22x17cm. Haha.. going for mini minimalist tank.
  12. I finally found the same tank as yours. Thanks for the help. I love the shallow depth.
  13. Thanks for the replies guys. To my amazement when I got to office just now, my torch is blooming but the octo seems to have melted. To throw or still recoverable?
  14. I'm thinking of DIYing a surface skimmer for my HOB filter. I intend to follow the DIY of this mod from nano-reef: The problem is, if my water level falls below the surface teeth, will air be sucked into the HOB, or will the HOB still run normally due to the alternate intake at the bottom? Please advise, thanks!
  15. Its a torch coral, not hammer. I have anothet hammer which is doing fine.
  16. Just bought a torch coral from GO yesterday. It was showing abit of its skeleton when I placed it in the tank. Today its still looking the same. Is it dying or not? Is it normal because its new? Octo and candy coral also newly bought is doing fine.
  17. Just to share once I found my 6 line wrasse dead. After scooping the body out, an isopod crawled out from its gill!
  18. Those of you keeping stinging corals in your nano tanks, do you have any tips on how to solve the issue? A hammer coral that I bought kept stinging my other soft corals around it, its tentacles swaying loosely up to 1.5" Of course this is not an issue in bigger tanks, but how do you manage them in much smaller environment?
  19. I would rather DIY my own strips... I find the Ecoxotic to be overpriced.
