An ex-reefer once told me that the winners are always reefers within 'their own circle of friends'. How true is that I really don't know, but I trust the panel to maintain fairness to all. Just sharing the opinion of others. Maybe there could be more transparency.

Frag A sold Frag F sold Frag G sold Frag J sold

MarcoVan, you are right. Seems that TOTQ are always showcasing the bigger players 4-6ft tanks. It would be nice to feature nanos as well. Good suggestion.
-
Will consider bringing the frags back home so those who can't make it can collect this evening at Toa Payoh. But need to make arrangements beforehand - I will only bring home frags that the buyer have confirmed.

Reef Quiz - Can you guess wads this?

Very close guys! Will post the answer at noon. -

I fully support the TOTQ and am grateful to Larry and team for bringing the TOTQ (used to be TOTM) back. While it may not be intentional or even coincidental that the past few featured were SPS dominated / mixed reef tanks, I hope non SPS reefers would not be shy to showcase their tanks, share knowledge and husbandry skills so that we all learn as a community, and not have the 'I need to keep SPS to be worthy of TOTQ' mindset.
-
As the threadstarter, I would like to clarify that in no way am I discouraged or want my tank to be 'recognised'. The purposed of this discussion is to point out that other types of LPS/NPS/FOWLR tanks have TOTQ material and TOTQ should not emphasis on SPS tanks all the time..

Is this Hitch Hicker dangerous to my tank?
Firestarter replied to Neutral's topic in General Reefkeeping_
When in doubt, kill. Just kidding. -
Hi Larry, I fully agree that successful SPS tanks require knowledge and husbandry care, and I wholeheartedly congratulate the winners for their beautiful tanks. Just want to see a change instead of always having SPS dominated tanks featured TOTQ all the time. Cheers.
-
Firstly, I don't know if this is the correct forum to discuss this. But I'll post it here anyway. Has anyone here observed that the TOTQ winners are always SPS / SPS dominant tanks? Does one have to keep SPS to qualify to be TOTQ? There are many reefers who have very nice LPS/soft coral tanks that deserve to be qualified for TOTQ. I hope the judges can break this cycle and feature more LPS/NPS/FOWLR tanks. I really hope that TOTQ is not biased towards SPS tanks. What do you guys think?

Selling zoas, softy and lps/sps frags
Firestarter replied to thairun's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Bro, when can we arrange to view your zoas? Can I get your hp. number? -
I've since stopped dosing as I'm still facing algae problems. I noticed that my corals don't seem to open as big as beforr.
-
Thanks for the advices guys. I will make the water level remain as it is for now unless someone points out something really negative abt that setup. The tank doesn't have a hood so like clement_jr suggested, will avoid fishes who tend to carpet surf.
-
Wah never would I have thought of natural disasters bro! Lol you brightened my day with that comment.
-
Thanks for the reply. The tank is only 24cm deep. Placing hand in all the way is fine. Will be using tweezers anyway. Have you known anyone who has setup this high before?
-
I don't plan to add any wavemaker as the flow from return is sufficient. Using the eheim compact 1000. If I set the rate to 600l/h, the waterline drops to 1cm but flow is not strong.
-
Wanted to make my tank like those ADA rimless tanks with high waterline almost to the tank brim. Initially planned to have a 1cm gap of water level from the brim. But I miscalculated the return pump flow. Right now my water level is abt 4mm frm the brim. Anyone done this before? My tank is an IOS so I don't see any reason how the water will overflow. But I'm still skeptical about the water level. Any inputs or advice from bros here?

May I know whats the brand, price, and do you have any pics of the lights in action?

How to remove green stains on glass
Firestarter replied to cyberpig's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Best to do scrapping of glass while doing WC. For me I use an unwanted credit card material and scrape the glass in an upward direction, then siphon it out the algae so it won't spread. -
